Has anyone killed the Queen in the last few weeks?

I solo killed the Queen several months ago. I did a completely new playthrough, and got back to the Infested Citadel. After a number of tries, I got the Queen about half down with two Hummenawful atgeirs (the ML weapons wear out very quickly at level two) after a couple of hours, then had to stop for the night. Assumed my progress would be saved---I was wrong, she appeared with all HP reset. I would never get that far again.
Next, I discovered that the Mistwalker seemed to be doing better damage, at first. After a while, though, it stopped doing any noticeable damage to her. I tried the atgeir, the Staff of Embers, the sword, at one point I was standing on her back and pounding on the bug with an atgeir, and got the HP down by about 1/4. After more than another hour of hitting the Queen and fighting off the spawn, I realized that her health bar hadn't changed at all in that time. It's as if she's adapting to whatever I use to attack her.
Did I miss a memo somewhere?

I have a portal and a couple of chests on the front porch. Collecting vast amounts of Royal Jelly and bug parts.

Most of my useful skills are in the 30s. I think Polearm was in the 40s.

A mage with blood and elemental magic over 50 can spawn skeletons to act as a diversion while you come around behind her and use the ember staff. Leave the citadel and use a small shelter on the platform for rest and eitr regen. Re-enter and repeat. Skeletons do a good job and will take out even seekers at that BM level.

Attempts with the skeletons weren't encouraging. Generally wiped out by the Seekers. How do you get skills over 50? Just go out and blow up vast amounts of stuff?

Are you using any mods?

If not I would post this to the bugs section since it looks like you have a bugged bug.

drop 30-40 (or more) refined eitr in single pieces on a first floor and bait Queen there, Then hide near entrance and wait, while eitr will do the job.

Underwater reef - game loves to stack similar items to prevent lags. So use not-so-big amount of eitr or clean floor from seekers loot regularly

Refined Eitr as bait? Never heard of this. A major problem is that the Queen runs to the back of the dungeon as soon as you start doing damage and inundates you with spawn.

No mods. Seems less like a bug than a misunderstanding.

Night spawns have been returned to all biomes as off last patch. It's listed in the patch notes.
