Super wolves?

I tried to take a longboat loaded with some 2-star wolves across the open water and a storm hit, causing some to fall overboard and I lost sight of them. I managed to get two across to my fortress and starting breeding them, so I forgot about the ones that went over, as I assumed they'd die or get killed eventually.

A week or so went by and I was crossing that same area and found a group of wolves treading water. The problem is, there were more wolves than what I lost. So I grabbed 3 at a time and had them follow to shore, where I fed them and told them to stay. There were 9 total, all 2-stars except for 1, which appeared to be a normal wolf. I took him away from the rest and tried to kill him, because I only wanted 2-stars to breed there.

I thought he was bugged, because I hit him repeatedly doing very little damage. I must have hit him like 30 times in rapid succession, and he died. My game also instantly crashed hard. I restarted Steam, restarted Valheim and the regular wolf was back. To avoid confusion and breeding issues, I brought him back to my fortress and set him up as a pet in the sleeping area upstairs and went about playing the game as usual.

A week or so ago, I came upstairs and found skeleton bones in the sleeping area and the wold was down about 15% of his health. I had not had anything get up there before and assumed it was a fluke. I fed it and it healed. The next day, I took it out with me and had it follow me down the coast. Much to my surprise, it killed everything it came up against quite easily. It was showing damage of 800 and above most times and occasionally right at 1000.

I took the wolf back to the fortress and brought a 2-star up to breed with it. They had one pup and It had no stars, so I removed the 2-star and waited to see what would happen. Shortly, I had more pups and I took one away, fed it until it grew, then loaded it on a longboat and headed to another coast. I was almost there when a 2-star sea serpent showed up and the wolf jumped overboard to try and kill it. The serpent was damaging the wolf, but the wold had turned to follow me, so it wasn't gonna survive. I killed the serpent, got the meat and headed to shore with the wolf following.

The wolf healed and we headed up shore to a spot I knew a 2-star and no star troll seemed to spawn a lot. He took off after the 2-star and it never even got a hit off, with the wolf hitting him twice and killing him. The other troll died instantly as well.

Instead of trying to fight creatures, I just started running past them and the wolf would engage, always killing and rarely getting hit. He even took out a band of 3 Fulings with no issues. Then he attacked a Greyling that apparently only saw me, as it was facing me when he hit it from behind for 3890 points. Shortly after that, he hit another for 4005, as he struck from behind. The only thing he has not killed on sight, are things he can't reach or wolfs. He will not attack other wolves and acts like he doesn't see them.

I am not sure how this thing was created, if it's because of the game itself or the Valheim-Plus add-on, or if it's a fluke because of the number I used to generate my world, because a LOT of weird stuff happens on mine, compared to my friends worlds when I visit them. No matter what caused it, I am now concentrating on raising a pack of them to take hunting against the bosses for fun...

Nobody had that ability, as nobody but me had been on during this period. I think it was some kind of glitch like maybe the world save happened around when it was "born" or it might have happened around a crash. The two odd factors, it not attacking other wolves and it being so much more powerful than even 2-star wolves makes me think it was simply a "glitch in the matrix" so to speak and will likely never happen again. The fact that all I had on the longboat were 2-stars wolves, yet it was found treading water in the bay with eight 2-star wolves, when I only lost 4-5 overboard also makes me think odd glitch.

My main reason for even bringing it up, is that I was wondering if anyone else had experienced any oddness related to things spawning around a game save or a game crash, maybe? My friends and I have our games set up pretty much the same, with only one person having added a few other things, but out of the 8 of us, I am the only one experiencing weirdness. It's not important and it has made things interesting, to say the least.

Having the starred serpents tells me something is wrong with your game install.
The only thing that could put them in is modifying game files or mods... considering you have this bizarre wolf I am thinking you either put in another mod and removed it or someone you played with effected your server. If it was limited to just the wolf being odd I would consider it just a glitch.

Mods are use at your own risk and have a bad habit of putting your saves in danger.

I would suggest you back up your saves.
Uninstall the game
Manually go to the game folder and delete it entirely <this is the only way to be certain you have a clean install with no mod files left over>
Reinstall the game.
Start a new world with a new character and check to see if everything is as it should be.
Then try to add in old saves and mods one at a time to verify function.

After that you should avoid playing on servers with people you don't know or trust.

?? Valheim plus shouldn't have a feature that increases enemy spawn levels. I was thinking it could be CLLC.

Someone could have used console commands or a mod to spawn it in your world though.

Sounds like a mod issue since there are no starred sea serpents in the game yet.

I am guessing as much, but confused as to why a regular looking wolf, who was with a group of 2-stars I raised, would end up with these strengths and behaviors. Other regular wild wolfs are easy kills. This one looks the same, but is anything but...

Maybe post some feedback to the maker of the mod?

Maybe that's Creature Level and Loot Control mod?

My guess is that might be a very high level wolf, say about level 10 if you hit it around 30 times with a good weapon and it didn't die.. Perhaps for some reason it isn't displaying any stars.

Loot drop amounts double per level with a no-star wolf dropping about 1 of each of meat, fang and pelt and a 2 star dropping about 4 of each.

So a level 10 is trying to drop like 512 of each at once, which is why your client crashed when the wolf died and your save got rolled back to where the wolf is still alive. You'll probably find it impossible to ever kill that wolf without your game crashing and having to get rolled back.

-edit: that's just my first guess anyway. I don't know much about that mod but the name implies you can tweak loot levels within that mod anyway. Have a look for an easy way to change wolf drop rate in CLLC's options.

Personally I think that mod gives a rubbish gaming experience in Valheim but it is highly configurable. Please be careful using that mod on your friend's server as you might accidentally litter their world with unkillable mobs like that one.

Good advice. As for the mod, all my friends have it, which is why I installed it. About the only things they have configured is additional storage and whatever the base mod has at install, I believe. I was "late to the game" so they'd already gone the mod route when I got it. While we all use the same mod, I used my birth date as the number to generate my world and there's way more weirdness on my world than any of them have. I guess I'll have to try it without a mod to see how that is...
