Mistlands biome spawning in old worlds?

Hi, I'm a returning player to Valheim after a long break. The world I'm on was created pre-mistlands update and I deliberately didn't explore super far in hopes that the Mistlands would generate in unexplored territory. I stumbled across the edge of the biome once or twice but always turned back.

Can I get confirmation whether Mistlands will generate properly in old maps as long as I haven't generated terrain?

I was very relieved when I explored 2 of the Mistlands areas I had slightly explored prior to the update. One was just a little strip of Mistlands which I never actually went into, but while venturing in the Plains most of it was uncovered but only barely to the edge of the shoreline, leaving the waters beyond unexposed on my map. After the update there was around 50 islands out in the ocean, with quite a few Dvergr docks, outposts and 1 mine and that after only exploring about 1/4 of the islands. Many land masses I had found, built bases with portals, but not fully uncovered, had Mistland biomes generated in the portions of those land masses I had not explored.

Yes it will generate properly. All the Mistland areas you did not explore will generate as it would if you started anew on a fresh seed. The areas or fringes you did explore will generate Mistland creatures but may not generate Infested Mines and Dvergr component sites. This was my experience on 2 of my maps, I have found plenty of Infested mines and Dvergr component sites. Even the odd Mistland areas I did explore generated islands off shore that had components and mines.

Awesome, thanks for that :) Keen to go out and explore and I guess I'll leave the south unexplored as I've read that's where the Ashlands are.

this is the fully zoomed out map showing where i explored after ML patch so you can obviously then see what was explored before ML patch

this is zoomed in to the north to outline the "corrupted" mistlands size and the next picture shows it closer so you can really get a good idea how much area is "corrupted"

As you can see i explored full heartedly and I am still inundated with enough "uncorrupted" ML to loot and remake everything ML has to offer 3 or 4 times over, maybe more!

and as you can also see I have had a little look at the north and ashlands but in comparison there is still heaps more to explore once they are patched in so I am in now way worried about bad generation for the small bit of spots I have explored

Post I made in a similar thread
