ROOFS

I am building a 15x18 2 story house. and I am having issues with the roof falling. I am in the "Bronze age" (havent killed the second boss yet) and I am using Core logs (the second try of wood posts) to help build my house. but as i get 2 to 3 layers of roof up it starts to fall. Any Ideas?
I have repaired my lower parts (all of them), I have flatten the earth that I am building this house on to the point it is completely even and that the base floor is supported on the dirt.

In our most recent world, our group pressed to get the 2nd boss The Elder so we'd have keys to get iron. Two ingots of iron (and other materials) gets you the stonecutter, and the stonecutter gets you stone pillars and stone slabs. Wood supported by the stone turns blue as foundation pieces. Once you get two ingots of iron for building supports, you can just coast to get better gear for having more a go at the Iron Age later.

@rasaNova, the dirt was raised and even with the bottom of the flooring I put down. I couldnt tell you how many were actually foundation pieces. as far as the posts that never occurred to me. they were most likely on the floor.

@weaver stories I am refering too is a full length core wood post. (think its the 4x4). and thank you for the video. I knew about the support system but didnt know about the foundation pieces (the blue ones). So thank you!

Make sure the core wood is connected to core wood, which is connected to the ground. The higher you go, the less distance you can build from a support. If you're having trouble filling in the middle of the roof, then you may need another support in the middle.

you'll need to build vertical supports from the ground to the roof. when you're holding the hammer, building pieces will be color coded by stability, adding supports will increase the stability.

I really hope with Hearth and Home update they utilize horizontal beams like they should be used. Homes in real life use way more horizontal beams than vertical posts. And since they are trying to make building semi realistic this would be a great addition.

Your floor is supported by dirt but what about your posts? If they're supported by the floor, that's not as stable. Make sure the posts are also supported by the ground (shaded blue.)

It gets a lot easier once you have access to iron or stone.

You may need to wait till you can access stone and/or Iron reinforcement. Also how are you defining a story? 1 Panel high? 2 Panel high?
