Too grindy
It is my opinion that the game is too grindy. Resource harvesting needs to be doubled.

In what sense? solo play? Pve co-op? or co-op Pvp?
I've played and am playing a game that takes years to grind and level up. This is just a cake walk from me.

- There's no real survival-lite game out there that is less grindy. Don't get me started on examples.
- Raspberries grow on edges between Meadow forests and fields. One you know that, it takes less than 30 minutes to collect a stack.
- It is very easy to get bees. 100 hours in my solo playthrough, I have 9 hives. In my coop world, we have 7, 80 hours. The only way you may have issues with them is if you take ruined huts for granted and don't check them out. Once you have 4 hives, you'd pretty much won't know what to do with all the honey.
- Thistles are found all over the Dark Forest. Similar to berries, you can collect a stack or more in less than 30 minutes, especially at night.
- Berries, thistles, bees, mushrooms, and other similar resources are only hard to collect if you ignore them until you need them. Then, when you deliberately trying to get some of these, it can feel like it takes forever, but if you just explore the biome, you can get yourself stuffed with that stuff for the days to come effortlessly.
- Birds are easily hunted for feathers at night.
- Similar to Copper, the only way you find something grindly here is if you don't know how to find and get it effectively.

Just a note on thistle- look for it in the forest at night, it glows and is very easy to spot. Same with feathers, birds land more often at night, and their white heads stand out.

If you just commit an in-game day or two towards any one of the things you mentioned, you can collect enough to last quite some time. One meadows run will often net me 100 red mushrooms, 150-200 raspberries, 30-50 neck tails, 4 queens, 50-100 feathers, 50 deer hides and leather scraps, 60-100 raw meat and possibly 50 blueberries and thistles if I dip into some Black Forest. This is enough to last multiple players quite some time for meats, jelly, arrows, honey/potions and other crafted recipes.
You just need to spend some focused time on the one task. I recommend turning the grass detail option in the settings down while doing this so mushrooms and other ground based items are easier to spot. It isnโt as pretty without it, but it makes the job more productive, at least as far as mushrooms are concerned.

Things like raspberries. I've plucked every meadow for a country mile, but they are in tons of recipes. Honey is another. I'm something like 130 hours in and have only found two queens. Thistles are another. Tired of fighting trolls to get a couple of thistles. And of course, Iron. But I loathe the swamp biome, so it's even worse. I simply don't want to be bothered so I debugmoded my way through to the wishbone. But the mountains mean frost resist mead- which means more thistles, honey and time watching the fermenter gurgle. All for 50 minutes of resistance. Copper lodes are clear in one pass, so no point even building a path. Feathers are in constant short supply. I've only barely started in the mountains, so we'll see what's short next.
OK here we go
1. Mark every raspberry bush you come across, typically there will be more than 50 of them in a single enclosed meadows space. Mark mushrooms and thistle etc. also. They respawn every 240 minutes ingame, or 8 days without sleep, about 12 days with sleep. Prescription: equip Eikthyr, stamina potions, and tasty mead, and on every 12th day get rested status and then sprint as far as you possibly can between all your marked locations while eating stamina-dense food, grabbing all the forage. When you run out of stamina, hit the stamina potion and tasty mead and begin sprinting again as soon as your bar is full. This should provision you for all that stuff for 12 days no problem.
2. Iron is a legit nightmare, but my current workaround is to try to find 2 crypts and then build a tree-house base between them, then plop down the following stuff:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2418324945
You can also just transfer the iron through another world of course.
3. Build a bunch of fermenters to pipeline your potion making - you gotta batch them. Realistically though, you don't absolutely need potions for any part of the game except the very start of the mountains, just dodge leeches, blobs and oozers, and then make the wolf chestpiece or cape ASAP.
4. Feathers can be obtained by knocking down a ton of tall beech trees, which is pretty easy once you have the ability to plant them densely and have the Elder power. You can also just go outside in a field while it's raining (seems like always eh?) and shoot birds.
The game is totally full of padding but there are ways to adapt.
Damn, its not much, but have an Award mate.
More so i can keep track of your post than anything lmao.

Hardly, grind in games like Warframe, Conan Exiles, Final Fantasy, MMOs are way worse, this hardly even skims the foam on top.

what are you trying to gather?
the only thing I felt was a chore was iron and rocks. Rocks because I needed literally 5000 or so for my exotic home. Iron because of design.

Everything respawns, mark your berries on the map so you can gather them again later on. Same goes for bees.
Feethers are easy to accumulate if you kill birds, they also drop from trees pretty often. Thistle is everywhere in the swamps and black forest, same as the other materials you can mark it on your map (eventho I find it pretty easy to find as is).
And if you loathe the swamp biome you're kinda screwed tbh, this is one of the most ressource heavy place in the entire game.
THen again, don't play survival building games without expecting some grind.

For raspberries, try to set a path that goes from your camp and that go two the patches of raspberries near you. Walking that path every three days should yield several berries easily :o!
For queens, takes a bit of time and exploring, I wish you good luck! Running around five or six meadows got us 8 queens and we barely know what to do with all that honey now :'))
I don't really know what to say for thistles. It is common enough that we find plenty just by running around the dark forest not fighting anything (remember that fleeing is always an option :'DD)
Feathers are a bit of a pain yeah :'D I usually end up chasing birds around with a spear when I have not much else to do.
Good luck!

it's not that grindy actually once you figure the mechanics, first thing you do, go to the meadows, find as many berry and mushroom spots and bushes as you can and mark them all individually and call it like B or M for Berry and Mushroom, every 4 or 5 days(not exactly sure on the time it takes for them to respawn but 5 days is a good bet) they will reset and you can collect them all again do the same thing in the black forest for blueberries and thistle hence they are both important food recipes find them and tag them.
also carrots and turnips are easy farms as well, you just need a big ass cultivation area to plant 400 seed of each or more, meat is also easy once you have access to two star boars
cloud berries can follow the same method mentioned above, as for honey, find as many beehives as possible, they usually spawn on the ocean side or close by rivers also located in the meadows, can't remember anymore food items. good luck.

Copper nodes on average have 3 to 4 stacks of copper in them. You aren't digging deep enough.
Feathers? Ten minutes on the coast with a bow and some wood arrows and you're done for days.
Queens? Check each ruined structure in the meadows... it's RNG but again doesn't take *that* long to get half a dozen or more.
Berries are annoying, but you can mark bushes and make a run of em. In a future update I suspect we'll be allowed to tend them.
Thistles? Annoying but... in my case, my search for Haldor had me find stacks of these, as well as blueberries.
You'll be done with frost potions after the first craft. They're nice to have but you'll have equipment that fixes that soon enough.
Your post doesn't read so much as the game is grindy - it can be a bit of work solo but I managed to do more in half the time apparantly.
It reads more like, I don't like the game because reasons, and you probably shouldn't play it.
Or do some casual research on what you are trying to do so you can enjoy it.
