it definitly isnt trying to be RAFT. thats pretty obivious. plus some areas cannot even be reached by a boat effectively.

Building on boats, no thanks. However a boat equipped for long trips with the option to sleep would be great. Vikings definitely had those.

what is valheim and what is it aiming to be?

having a mobile watercraft house in crafting/ survival games is the best. Is there already a mod that lets you build on your longboat?

Ropes and bollards and i'll be happy.

A single-player game is whatever the developer wants it to be. Yes you can change it with mods, as alot of people do. That doesn't invalidate the developers vision for the game nor does it mean anything if you decide to mod it.
