I beat the game in 37 days! Here's my story:
Random seed, perma-death, no sleep, no cheese/exploits.
Here's the map seed I had: Nx8RSMw5Ew
Story time!
Meadows:
Hugin drops me off and immediately I grab the free berries, mushrooms, rocks and branches from the spawn circle. I run along the coast and grab flint until i have enough to make my flint axe, woodcutter bench upgrade and tanning rack. As soon as i hit the black forest to the east, I entered looking for blueberries (for 3 stamina foods!) and trolls to take out.
By day 3, I have enough leather scraps, deer hides, raspberries, bees and troll leather to be done with the meadows for the rest of the game (other than fine wood.) I murder Eikthyr and head off to the black forest!
Black Forest:
It took a long time to find a good spot for a base. I wanted to find the elder spawn to see if I could build right next to it, but alas, he turned out to be on another island. I travel quite far from the spawn point because I cant seem to find a spot with good copper, tin and crypts. Thankfully, in my lengthy travels, I found several trolls, letting me get a full upgraded set pretty quick.
At last I found the perfect spot! 2 copper nodes near the shore with a crypt between them! There were only 4 crypts in the whole region, but thankfully I managed to get 28 sertling cores out of them. Between the troll armor and my stag breaker, they were quick and easy.
I mine only enough tin and copper my cultivator (top priority to give plants time to grow), my bronze axe, my cauldron and my fermenter in that order. I "borrow" bronze from my fermenter to make the adaze needed to upgrade my troll leather, then deconstruct it to remake my fermenter. With a portal built, karve-boat built and the supplies needed for a 2nd portal loaded in the boat-storage, it's off to the elder's island (to the east).
The elder is the easiest boss once you have a bone tower shield as he can't even scratch you when blocking. He dies on day 9.
Swamp:
The elder is dead and it's time to explore the swamp to the south of him. I popped my eikthyr power, poison potion and stamina foods and went exploring to find turnips (3 turnips for cauldron upgrade is top priority) This worked out so perfect. The swamp was HUGE and there were many crypts near the edge of the black forest, and i found a turnip plant pretty quick.
I set up a chest at the front of the crypts I'm working on, fill them with iron, then run back and forth filling my boat. 140 iron gets mined surprisingly fast and I'm heading back across the ocean to my base, killing a serpent on the way to make the best food in the game: Serpent stew.
I make an iron mace and banded shield in preparation for bonemass, I was planning on running troll leather all the way into the plains, but the iron was so plentiful and quick to mine, I ended up crafting iron armor as well, then headed out with my sausages, serpent stew and muck shakes to kill bonemass.
Bonemass is a nightmare if you are ill-prepared and don't know how to dodge, but if you do, he is pretty easy. He died on day 18.
Mountains:
This was the hardest biome of the whole run. Stone golems kept chasing my off the silver mines, and I suck at fighting those as just a couple failed parries = death. It was slow going as I ran from one deposit to the next, trying to escape the golems, but eventually i got enough silver for my draugerfang bow, frostner, and a wolf cape.
Modor spawn was very unlucky. I was on the east side of the world and the closest one was on the far west side. I loaded up my boat with one dragon egg, hoping the other two would be next to Modor. It took 3 days to sail across the world, but I killed enough serpents along the way to have enough stew for the rest of the game.
Modor is the hardest boss in the game I'd say, or maybe it was because I was using my old iron mace to take him down. Stone golems, drakes and wolves kept spawning, during the fight, and i had to retreat more than once and had some close calls, but at last, I got the final blow on day 27 and headed through my portal to make a windmill (turned out to be a waste since I didn't make anything with the flour) and flax processor.
Plains:
On my voyage to Modor, I passed a lot of plains, marking the fuhling camps on my map as I passed them. I was sooooo far from my base though, that I decided to completely skip black-metal gear, as the voyage back would take far too long. Instead, I raided their camps for flax and made a set of padded armor with the leftover iron i had saved. No weapon upgrades, and still only my banded iron shield.
I didn't bother to kill any loxes, since their food isn't that much better than the wolf skewers, serpent stew and eyescream I already had. My mace wouldn't work too well against them anyway.
I took the risk of leading whole fuhling camps into tar-pits, letting them slaughter each other, then I'd go in and mop up. I found the yagulth spawn... and he was on the same island! And the first 4 totems were pretty quick to find... the last one? Not so much, but at last i found it in the top of an outpost tower.
With my fire resist mead, stamina and health meads, padded armor and level 2 frostner, It was time to take out Yagulth.
Wow did i screw this up! There were a pack of nearby loxes that I hoped to just avoid during the fight... and I did.... but what I didn't avoid was the tar pit. Oh man was my heart pounding as I got tarred and poisoned while yagulth rained down meteor showers. I used my bow to take out the tar monsters, but I cam so close to death.
At last i regained control of the fight, hiding behind the giant plains stones to shield me from the meteors, smacking yagulth in the face with frostner. After a long fight, he finally went down and it was time to take all the trophies from my black forest base and turn them in to the spawn point. (yep, I used eikthyr power the whole game because I didn't want to take such a long time running the boss trophies so far back to the spawn.)
Day 37 hit on my run back, but all the heads were up and the run was complete! This was a huge jump over my last record, which was 54 days. I'm not sure how much more time i can shave off on my next run.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed hearing about my adventure!

What's with all these negative comments? Toxic-ass community.
I think beating all the bosses within 54 days is a pretty good accomplishment especially on a random seed.
Skipping silver armor is a good choice but grabbing a silver weapon is a very good timesafe against Yagluth.
If you do that you can probably shave off a few days by skipping all of black metal!

By your own opinion you should be playing a city builder, because Valheim isn't about sight seeing and planning your vacation home. This is the 10th world, you are a warrior, and you have been tasked to destroy Odin's enemies. Everything else is in aid of that quest, not for your own selfish wants. Yay you! [/sarcasm]
What I'm more curious about is.....
Are you actually enjoying the game, or are you just focussing at getting it done asap; without paying attention to all the nice landscapes, views, construction options and things like those?
IMHO games like these are made by at least 90% to enjoy them and not about getting them done asap. If you want to do that, play a game about Formula 1 instead.
Thorin :)
Let him enjoy what he enjoys. You enjoy how you want to enjoy things. I'll be busy enjoying something else completely.

I always thought speed-running was a way to extend the value of a game once you've mastered it playing normally. It works best for games like Doom, imho, but if it works in Valheim then great.
I hope no one deprives themselves of the pleasure of a naive run-through with no peeking on the web unless you're stumped. Any Valheim first-timers should not be speed-running.

Nice, so you didn't upgrade to a longboat ? So you had portal mats with your person the whole time or did you build at your boat landing or leave them in the boat? I'm amazed with all the farming you were able to pull off in that short time aswell. Man wish I had the time and mental capability to keep track of things like that so well. Good stuff man I'm still working on my first under 100 run

I hate speedruns for one reason and one reason only; Goldeneye 007 Facility sub 2:05. It was fun as hell for me and my friend running it at the time but it made me fanatical to the point where i had to quit playing for a bit.

To all the weird comments about "speedruns" and negative stuff about that. Please stop and think first. This isn't a speedrun, its a challenge run to complete game in a small amount of days the in game day counter is tracking. No sleeping increases the time you play this game. He's in the thick of it all the whole time not trying to die. Continuously mining, farming, upgrading, sailing, fighting, collecting. How is that not enjoying the game?

Again, I could never play this way, I'm too much of a hoarder/builder.
But this was an interesting read. I love seeing the different methods that different players use for various types of playthroughs. From speedruns to people only killing the second boss after 300 days, I just love to see what comes out of this community in terms of playstyles.
Ty for sharing!

You could not have beaten the game. It is not finished yet.
That was my first thought lol.
But to the OP that's cool. Doing everything as fast as humanly possible isn't fun for me but everyone plays a game differently. Hence the modding threads that get super emotional and eventually locked.

I think beating all the bosses within 54 days is a pretty good accomplishment especially on a random seed.
Skipping silver armor is a good choice but grabbing a silver weapon is a very good timesafe against Yagluth.
If you do that you can probably shave off a few days by skipping all of black metal!

I think your biggest time save could come from the mountains, imo skipping silver and immediately going for moder after beating bonemass might be the play as beating him damagless isn’t hard with practice, thus making blackmetal weapons from the fuling villages to beat yagluth is probably overall faster
