Am I in the minority of players?
I ask because from reading so many recent posts it seems many players have one seed they have played for a very long time and hesitate at starting a new one.
Yet I find new seeds to be some of the most fun. A new world to discover, new 'best' places to build, new areas to subjugate!
Even if I have built the most perfect fortress on a seed I have 'won' then what? Does a painter paint just one picture never to move on and paint again?
Nope, time to move on and build again!
So I am curious as to if you are a one seed homesteader or a new seed wanderer and why you are either?

With every character I use a new world seed to be their "home world", but I have kept certain old world files, such as the very old one my cylindrical tower is built on, and most of my characters move from world to world depending on what I feel like doing. I do, however, back up my characters and world frequently, and every time an update drops I load and resave each character and world so they don't become stale and unusable in future updates.

@Walentaz Beyond the fact this is an EA game and all that comes with that I would ask is it the building you enjoy or the built?
@Vistresian Do you re-build often? Expand? Say you have an idea for a better storage warehouse do you rip down the old and build the new? Keep the old and enlarge it? I can see how you treat your seed as a retreat from how you describe. But are you ever moved to start a new seed, keeping the old, to tromp around a bit with your character?
@GlassDeviant Old world hopping with new characters is an interesting way to keep old saves relevant.

The group I play with has restarted a couple times, when we feel like playing again. Despite that we've sunk plenty of building effort into seeds we probably won't come back to. Each restart is an opportunity to learn something and build memories we can take to the next world. I was really proud of the farm I set up in the plains in the last world we had, more proud than the plains farm I set up in the previous one. I look forward to the next restart so that I may build one that is even better, perhaps in the mistlands this time. (Although if you can't grow flax and barley, maybe I should try to find an area where mistlands meets plains and put it between the two.)

I very much enjoyed my only seed and game. Looking forward to starting another one, but I suspect it won't be the same as the first go. Still will be fun to explore the new world and build upon the knowledge and experience I've gathered so far.

I had recently started all over on a solo run. In some ways I'm enjoying more as I have knowledge and the exploring and building seem easier.
Working through to build my main base and get to the next boss has been great for me. I didn't want to start another seed, but I may just do that when Mistlands goes live.

I usually rebuild as necessary, but otherwise I try to keep the original idea in place. For instance, a starter dock only needs to be wide enough to fit a raft and eventually a karve, but a longboat requires wider slip/berth that only takes a few minor adjustments.
For the warehouse I just build big from the start so that I can stuff more chests in as needed or flesh out a second floor that wasn't already there.
And I can't say new seeds with the same character is my go-to. If I'm going to start a new seed, a new character just feels ideal. A new seed with a pre-fitted character would feel a bit like an unfair advantage. Slaughtering the meadows with iron+ from the start would have its own appeal, but natural progression feels better.

I'm just too lazy to make food on multiple characters. :)

Dont see any reason for starting a new one.
Nothing new anyway other than things are "misplaced" again :D

If you're not cheating, then building bases around the world takes a lot of resources and time. So giving up all your cool bases and stockpiled resources for each patch is a bitter pill to swallow.

I love starting over actually. I find the experience always fun and I like seeing what seeds come together based on word combos.

Some people don't mind starting from scratch, others prefer to enjoy the advancements they've made. I don't really care to start over, myself.
I'm not someone who's ever pushed heavily towards end-game content since building a homely area and hunting in the first two biomes is already pretty enjoyable for me, but even with the lack of heavy endgame progression- starting over means rebuilding a home and all the things that come with it. For me, that means a dock, a storage warehouse, paths through the woods, outposts, and so on.
It's a bit of the same topic as MMO-RPG players deciding whether or not to start a new character. Some stick to a "main," others make an occasional new character, and some are almost permanently stuck to starter zones because they make new characters that often. And when it came to that, I was the type to stick to one character because there was already plenty of progress there that I wouldn't have on a brand new one.
I get the appeal of a new start, though. It's just not for everyone.
I'd rather find new ways to enjoy a game like this on a main seed without starting over.

some people build a damn shed for crafting stuff and that's it - these people lose little by starting over. Some people have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cities and castles built - how is that makes sense for starting over with hundreds of hours sunken into building cool stuff?
Inability to rebuilt seeds for new content updates or simply not having proper biome placeholders to populate is just straight up showing middlefinger, it makes these early access scams absolute waste of time.

EARLY ACCESS
You can keep spreading your anger all over the forums but the simple answer is what I posted above. Stop playing EA games if you can't handle the development cycle and potential for restarts. Sounds like you're taking emotional damage from something that you AGREED TO IN THE BEGINNING. /smh Just wait for 1.0 releases, easier on your mental health.

I don't know how the numbers break down, but I'm with you. Where is the replayability in a game where after the first run through, you know where everything is? That's why I don't play Planet Crafter any more.

I have a seed that is littered with tiny islands
So I'll be on that seed for a while
