Raising mountains

Around your base is pretty cheesy isn’t it? Strange that it’s something possible in this game, my raised grounds bug out raids they just come stare at me and the event ends cause they have no ways in and can’t even throw stones at my base since I made the walls further away from it.

Wouldn’t it be cool if trolls can destroy them? Or greyling and draugers come with pickaxes or something? I don’t know, just feels like a cheese.

So yes I am a cheese.

Just need to add a late-game item we can build that will protect us from Raids.

Maybe after beating whatever the "Final" boss in the game ends up being we can get some sort of "Odins Boon" buff that stops raids from happening while active/activated.

I agree that it should not be a go to thing in the finished product, but as it stands its the only way to defend buildings.
Hopefully when they take it away, they will add some more high tier walls.
For the walls we got now can't hold anything after a few biomes.

The cheesy part for me though is that it totally bugs out the raids, it literally lasts like 10 seconds of them standing still before they run off.

While raids can be destructive and annoying, I still love them, but I love extreme terraforming as well.

so I hope they find some kind of middle, like someone suggested, high jumping mobs, more flying mobs, trolls and other mobs with pickaxes like you mention. There a lot that can be done.

As it stands though it feels more like an exploit than utilising the terraforming feature. ( for me at least ).

It is not the only way to protect a base, build walls, two layers, add spikes inside and out. Troll traps are fun too.. this is where you build a hole and put something valuable over it, they smash the thing, kill the floor fall inside.. good times.

But my personal favourite way to defend is to kill the mobs myself.

I understand that, from the gameplay perspective. But all that junk looks awful around a careful exotic build, like the USS enterprise ship home, etc. Nothing says 'to boldly go' like 3 rings of walls around it. Lofting terrain 10 clicks and putting it up on a platform though, that fits the idea AND keeps it safe. There needs to be some sort of 'decorative base, no break it' concept, some how, some way. And there need to be 'raidable bases': this base is for the gameplay attacks and defense and pvp and whatever else, no holds barred. In the long run, maybe something like the anti-theft statue could be added that if you build it, puts a 100 radius of invincible (buildings, but not the player) down (like at the trader) and then, having given us a tool like that, 'correct' the enemy so they can overcome {gap bridge, terrain wall, moat, etc} stuff to attack you and your stuff.

I suspect that troll picks will actually happen (at release, the enemy may have a way to get through them). Or not. The game is 80% about building beautiful/cool/funny/etc things. If all that stuff gets broken every hour or so, its like trying to have a snowman around a bunch of kids -- its gonna get trashed when you turn your back. There really must be some way to protect the builds, or the game becomes totally useless to a lot of players.

I only suggest it as a possible solution.

I haven't tamed a single animal in hundreds of hours of gameplay.

The game is unfinished, and people find ways to balance out missing content.
I agree that it should not be a go to thing in the finished product, but as it stands its the only way to defend buildings.

I dug a trench instead, with an inner wall. I don't like to completely spoil my view by living in a funnel.

You really dont haveto do it tho. You only get raids from stuff youve defeated, so just go out there and smash the raid, (or kite it if you cant beat it). Neither of those two require a mud fortress.
