Bed needs nearby Fire

I've searched the forums and found various posts similar but no solutions appear to be right for my setup.

I was able to sleep just fine the first night but on my second night it won't let me.

The fire currently has 3/10 wood on it so it is burning. Why won't it let me sleep :(

It's not the bed, it's you! Try to approach the bed from another direction. You have to benefit from the fire effect, and until then, a bed is of no use, beside defining your respawn point.

Thank you, that has worked doh!

Is this some kind of bug though, i mean it worked fine the night before and it was only positioned 5 floor tiles away.

Ah so i need the fire effect icon top right of my screen before trying to sleep?

I tired to duplicate your situation and it let me sleep. Is it saying it needs a nearby fire? Maybe the hearth has a larger radius than the campfire,

Yeah it says "Bed needs nearby fire". It worked for my first night no problem but my second night it didn't work so i have now moved my bed closer to the fire and wondered if it's a bug as it wasn't really that far away in the first place but it did solve it for now :)

pipo.p is right. I've had a bed just out of range and able to sleep standing on the fire side of the bed but not on the other side or on top of the bed.

Likewise, in case of a bad ventilation, when the fire is intermittent, just wait for benefiting from the fire effect again, before hitting the Sleep key!

This is very likely the case. It probably just happens that the angle you went to bed from night 1 was just close enough to receive the buff
