Each world can be so different; cheers for procedural generation!
Just wanted to give a quick 'my recent experience' with the variation new worlds (seeds) can bring.
Perma death so being cautious as comes with such play-throughs.
New seed. Lots of smaller islands. Not too mountainous overall, but some well sloped ravines and ridge-lines around.
Into the Black Forest on the start of day three. Lots of copper, lots of tin and a ton 'o Trolls. Trolls everywhere. In one spot there were two Trolls rather close to one another and a third in his cave.
And all these Trolls made things a bit slower as I searched for a tomb and the cores within (but they did get some copper mining done for me!).
BUT the skins where a boon. I ended up using some for wallpaper I had so many.
Now to find some tombs.
Day 5.
No tombs yet. Trolls, sure, but tombs no.
Did some mining in anticipation.
Lots of rain.
Day 15
Still no tombs. Island after island nothing.
Did some more mining.
Rain.
Day 25.
Really? Maybe I need to start a new seed. Nope, I am going to conquer this place!
I know the sun is real, I saw it once.
Day 30
Find an island bigger than most. Trolls (what a surprise!), but lots of skeletons too.
Finally!
Right after landing I find not one, but two tombs right next to each other.
Clear them. 12 cores and 49 bone chips.
Rain. Who cares.
Celebrate!
---------------------
There is a certain exhilaration this game can bring when you push through the digital adversity rained upon your unsheltered head. Be that recovering after an ignoble death or just finding a resource you need after a long search.
And even though the 'biome' pieces are always the same you never know how they will be put together on a new world so every adventure can still bring surprises.
Well done Valheim, well done.

The map generator won't show everything there is to be different. I tried the seed generator where it shows you it on a map in the browser
imo the maps are far to similar and not that cool, at least when you can see the scale
I have had maps look like flat areas only to be riddled with ravines so bad there wasn't room to spawn a copper node or crypt in large areas around the start zone.
What you see from the map view is not all there is to the map.
Really that map generator site is such a disservice to the game in my opinion. And certainly not something you should be judging the game over.

@GunsForBucks and it rather defeats the intent of 'exploring' a new world anyways doesn't it.
@Chr!570ph3r Using such map viewers is like using a real map (maybe I am the only one that still has real maps) with no contour lines, no elevations and only major cities -meaning the altars- shown on them. You can get a very general idea, but nothing more.
Or more simply put, sure you can see the bottom and top pieces of bread in the sandwich, but you cant tell what is in the middle.
Yeah, not the best simile, but serviceable.

I haven´t seen a better random world generator than the one in Valheim so far. It´s really well done.

Spot on !! Every seed is different - and requires a different approach - I'm on my 4th seed now....(1600hrs !!!) and to be honest I keep muttering "They've changed more in the patches than they've told us" or it's simply a change in dynamics due to different seeds....
Compared to my first seed, the last 2 I've had plains/mountains/swamp all bordering each other, and watching a Lox vs Abomination vs Stone Golem is worth the 20 bucks I paid.....
Has the AI been tweaked.... or is this down to differences in seeds?

@Requimatic:
You have not experienced the right seeds, I presume. There are seeds with almost gigantic landmasses. They're good for having more biomes than usual on the starter island, but they're also sometimes in the way when you want to get somewhere quick with the boat.
So, as everything, large continents have their positives and negatives.
Try the seed "Valheim". You might like it. ;)

The only things I dislike about the map(s) are:
1. Size.. they seem almost too small at times, with too many islands scattered about and not enough huge land masses. Hopefully a change for this later on with world-gen options. (Hopefully not limited by Unity)
2. No inner-world exploration such as cave systems, an inner-earth biome, etc. Hopefully at some point we could see the interior of the planet as its own biome with caves everywhere and the World Serpent as a boss.
Other than that, I agree!

I absolutely love the procedural generation of Valheim. You never know what you gonna get, and it is absolutely NOT the same every time.
Every map is different and forces you to play it differently than the last.

Playing house rules limited lives (0 +1 per Forsaken Power gained respawns allowed due to my habit of playing before the first cup of coffee) I run through quite a few worlds and seldom see similarities except for some odd reason I've been getting a lot of max or near max range Trader spawn locations usually in tiny Black Forests tucked safely behind Plains... grrr.. enough to make me want to peek with the World Viewer but would ruin exploration so toughing it out :))
But yes it's one of the best procedural map generators I've seen and they do a great job of blending the borders.

It really is amazing the variation when you play different seeds and see it for yourself.
You hear people complain it is all copy/paste but I just think they have not played enough to appreciate all the variation there is.
Not just in Trolls either although that is a big factor if I go for troll or just use bronze.. I have had some maps where I just couldn't find any trolls until I got way away.
But just biome placement and resources make such a huge difference in how you play a map.
It really is great!
My current map I have been dealing with a massive shortage of bees ha ha ha. Normally I am swimming in honey!
