Not much we can do. If you don't get more friends or mods it is not going to motivate you to play anymore than it already is. Sounds like burnout to me, which is far more common for people who are trying to play solo in a game where progression goes much faster in co-op.

Whenever I find myself in this situation where I obsess about a game, but can barely bring myself to launch it; that is a signal to put that game down for an undecided period of time in favour of a game that is easier to launch, or something entirely different from games. Trying to force the situation by sticking with it can lead to some pretty unhealthy behaviours, like putting off sleep because you're desperate to get that fulfilment you wanted.

That statement keeps getting thrown around and it's the dumbest thing ever. Usually from the 1000+ hour crowd who completely overlook the vast choices that everyone else is embracing. It is not rare to people who have a shorter-lived (though still fun) experience with Valheim due to having already spent a lot of time with other games that share many features in common.

There's a lot to like but it's fine to not like absolutely everything about it. I can probably name something that sucked from every game I ever loved. I can imagine that going to solo after already conditioning yourself for a coop environment is the toughest of all. Friends can add value to anything, even poop on a stick.

The good news is, Elden Ring on Friday. Hold out until then and you will never need to play any other game ever again.

So true. I jumped back into Valheim the other week after some months of not playing it. It still needs more content before I want more of Valheim. I love the game, but for now, I'm better off doing other things. I'll revisit it again at a later date.

I have the exact opposite problem as OP. I love playing solo and also love playing the game in general. Playing solo means you have to do all the work yourself though. However it also allows you to play at your own pace and offers the opportunities to do whatever you want on any given login. Want to spend the day tending the farm? Go right ahead. Want to speed run the bosses? Hey feel free. Want to build a massive castle and kill no bosses? Well guess what you can. Dive in and have fun or don't. Its your call.

If you aren't enjoying it, don't feel bad putting it down for a while. IMO, valheim is best with friends. I can't see myself playing it solo because it's a hell of a grind.

There are so many games out there. If you played even a couple hours, Valheim was more than worth the price of admission. Few experiences can be had for $10 an hour or less.

Its a fun game I just find myself often just getting lazy when I think about all the grinding I have to do solo, not to mention some very frustrating moments in the game such as a random sea dragon attackin and making u loose all ur loot

If you're not enjoying playing solo, then play something else. Give it 6-12 months and then come back and start fresh. I played through the game once alone, then played through again with friends. My friends are waiting until more is added to the game now. I've since played through 2 more times solo. I like changing things up, like instead of grinding for bronze, I get enough for a bronze weapon and adze for the tier 4 workbench, then go into the swamp with upgraded troll armor instead of bronze armor.

Also, I've played through using clubs/maces 2 times. I played through using only swords. Now my next plan is to abandon using a shield and stick with the atgeir. I just started gathering copper/tin in my most recent playthrough on the test branch. I'm considering switching between the knives and atgeir (depending on how much I enjoy it). I've always used one handed weapons, now I'm going to try to focus on the two handed weapons. I'm also considering an axe playthough. I've been hearing good things about the crystal battleaxe.

So, if you really want to keep playing the game and it's feeling stale for you, then I suggest changing your play style. Move out of your comfort zone. I was always underwhelmed by the bosses in solo. That's because I always over-prepared. I plan on changing that too. Things like fighting the Elder with fire arrows will be replaced with focusing on killing the Elder with melee only. The same goes for Moder.

It's all about whats fun for you. If you can't find a way to play the game and make it fun, then take a break. Come back fresh after a few month of playing other games.
