Seems like every time I set out to explore in a boat it rains, storms, or mists at least every other day. Visibility drops to the point that I damn near have tor run aground for the map to update with biome, that's if I can spot land in the first place, even from 100 meters or less.

LOL, i'm not gonna lie, it does rain a bit often. But maaaaaaaaaaaaaan those storms really add to the thrill if you're not using dcommands i am just saying. Got them graphics on high, big ole monitor, you're running through the dark forest the lights are all going crazy and the lightning and everything. you hear a little grumble in the back and it reminds you of a greyling but when you turn around to see its nothing but a tree trunk smashing your head. God this sounds so frustrating but so damn thrilling :3

i also wanna comment on this part with the every time you head out to sea thing it rains.
I live in florida, it rains like every other day. no but really maybe once or twice a week but if we head out to sea ourselves literally just look out there we actually see that the sea has so much rain that is being produced right above it. I must say, the oceans actually produce tons of rains and it rains soooooo soooo soooooooo much more over oceans than it does land.

Sometimes it's sorta like the old fighter pilot describing a mission, "Two hours of sheer boredom followed by two minute of stark terror."
Had that happen this run one thunderstorm, me on a Karve with a Finewood Bow, near sea sick from storm tossing me all over, and a sea serpent decides I'm snack food. I turned towards the nearest land.. at least according to my map notes, ran the sails full, and started shooting flint arrows at the serpent. Thought for sure it was the end (permadeath run).
Couldn't tell half the time whether I was hitting the serpent or my ship. Then I found land, or more like it found me, ran aground in shallows, serpent still on me like white on rice. Karve amazingly did not fall apart on impact, and as the serpent was trying to decide between snacking on the Karve or me, I got two more shots in and killed him.
Between the shallows and the storm I managed to get the scales, no trophy though, and of course the meat. My Karve had like a sliver of health left.
Still can't say that made up for the rest of the miserable eight hours real time trying to find a swamp in way too much nasty weather with a map that won't update what my eyes can plainly see.

Upon reading this it felt like a genuine story coming from an actual experience as if it were real life. Upon ending reading this i do and most arguably say that "Still can't say that made up for the rest of the miserable eight hours real time trying to find a swamp in a way..." i believe really really it did. I bet during those 8 hours of exploration you found a massive amount of cool things. But i also feel it shouldn't take 8 hours rlt to find a swamp unless.... the game has tons of other things that side tracked you? O.O. pesky weather.

I really like the rain, but it can be a bit intense and overly-frequent sometimes. Rather, I'd like to see a weather intensity option added to the graphical options that can be lowered so visibility isn't obliterated every time there's a few drops of water coming down from the sky.

This sounds like it would mean a creative mode type thing as the rain is kinda meant to be impairing. its a survival game. imho? maybe? i dunno.

I think it might be the lack of content, I mean the Ocean biome is slated somewhere towards the end and until then all we have are serpents, leviathans, and foul weather. I wish they'd slack off the foul weather a bit until Ocean biome is done. Also, something really needs done about the map, it doesn't pick up biome's/land you can clearly see in good weather, and occasionally in lightning flashes.
