This is why I keep my pigs and wolves in armored pens. Thats a an enclosure with raised-earth walls and a full roof, with a second un-roofed earth wall at least 4m away from the pens surrounding all the pens. The outter wall keeps most things out of striking distance of the animals in the pens, and the actual pens keep bats out, keeps blobs far enough away that they cant poison anything inside, and protects the animals from drake attacks.

Sounds like you have an awesome defensive enclosure for your tamed creatures Kursor. Providing a cover enclosure is paramount if one needs to protect their livestock from flying enemies, especially "A Cold Wind Blows From the Mountains". Drakes can do an enormous amount of damage to one's animals in a very short amount of time, and they do not always focus on a player. Out of all the invasion events, I found that one to be very frustrating as it is the only event that comes to mind where I had problems keeping them away from my livestock.
The only time I have ever had a problem was early on when I assumed I had a few seconds to empty my inventory, while literally standing in front of a chest with it open when the invasion event announcement occurred. For new players, make sure you do not hesitate to run outside of your defensive walls, if you want your buildings and animals to come through it unscathed. A good strategy is to build what I call a "Killing Donut". Dig a circular hole with a raised earthen platform in the middle. Run to the middle of the donut and pick off the enemies from range with a bow as they fall into the hole. Fulings are intelligent though, they will not usually fall into the pit, but it is easy enough to kill them as they circle the edge. A couple of stone or corewood walls on the platform can protect one from Fuling Shaman ranged attacks.
I have so many 2 star wolves not only mixed in with my boars, but also in packs roving outside my walls. So much so that I rarely even get a chance to engage enemies before they get close enough. Currently "A Foul Smell From the Swamp" is the only invasion that kills my wolves, but it kills so few and I have so many the damage is minimal. Most of my bases do not have enough base structures close enough to one another to trigger an invasion event. I have villages rather than bases, with separate buildings for each crafting specialty.

I'm honestly not sure what happened: the pig pen was on one side, trolls in the middle, I was on the opposite side. I'm not sure how to measure distance in game, but I was like, 4 Kilns away from the trolls in an open flat meadow. After I shot the troll, it came at me for a second before turning around to kill the pigs/blow up the pen.
One wooden floor tile is 1 meter. Trolls have a 30 meter perception radius and a 20 meter alert radius at a 90 degree angle in front of them. If you leave alert radius through distance or angle the troll will attack something else. Their priority after you is live stock (if they can see them), crops, behives, other buildings.
Okay, I think I have an idea of what happened here. You were originally juuuust outside its normal detection range and when you hit the troll with your arrow, you "got its attention". Its behavior pattern had it turn and take a step or two in the direction the arrow came from, but it failed to perceive you or couldn't find a proper pathing for some reason and so just stopped and went back to the next visible priority on its list - in this case, the boars.

My 2 star wolves and boars are enclosed in a large area (twas originally a dilapidated, abandoned village) adjacent to my castle. It is surrounded by a 3-4 metre earthen wall, which has a 1 metre trench on its outer base. The area is blanketed with work bench & ward anti-spawn coverage and it has never suffered from invasion incursion event enemies. The wards are buried just outside both its southern & northern gates, because wards not only create anti-spawn coverage, they also increase the strength of player made structures (like large darkwood gates). Due to the fact that I rarely ever use the gates, they are blocked by the largest stone wall pieces.
I repaired and repurposed 3 of the five buildings in the village, and demolished 2, using their base for garden plots because they left me with 2 perfectly level areas to use for garden plots. This allowed me to minimize the amount of hoe levelling, which in my experience is one of the main culprits of lag.

I see you've had your first Greydwarf event. Congratulations/Condolences!
Yes, those particular boars are gone forever (the ones that died - the ones that just escaped may eventually be found, usually from wherever you originally got them, if they don't get killed by monsters first). Fortunately, wild boars spawn quite frequently, so it's just a matter of finding and taming a new set. Or, if you still have 2 or more tame boars, beef up the protections around their pen (stakewalls are your second best friend at this stage of the game - ditches and walls made of raised earth being your first) and breed their numbers up.

Ah you had a Greydwarfs raid. If your Boars were killed they are gone, you will have to tame a new pair of them. If they Boars were not killed it possible they are just wandering around.
If you don't see any new boars around to tame, look for a rune stone that talks about the boars and fires. make sure you do not build fire, torches, or work stations near it.
Clear the surrounding area of live animals and mobs, and in a few days a new set of boars should show up, for you to capture and tame. Keep an eye out for 1 and 2 star boars, they are more resilient and provide more resources. They generally show up further away from the sacrificial stones.

I literally just experienced this, except with a troll raid. I'm devastated I lost my two-star pig. I wish the AI would prioritize attacking me adjacent to them shooting arrows over pigs/structures.

You are always the priority, but if you stick around too close to your piggies then... well, collateral damage is a thing, especially if something happens that causes the trolls to lose track of you (or the boars just happen to be between them and you).

I've found that Mobs (Trolls, Greydwarfs, and such) will go after you if you are in a certain range, and its possible to reach you. Again beef up your defences.
To get another starred boar, go back to the area where you found the 2 star boar, find the rune stone I mentioned above. If you keep clearing it you should find another starred boar.

I guess I could try double stakewalls. I don't want to mess with earthen works since they look a little ugly to me. Thankfully the 2-star boar spawn was relatively close, so hopefully it procs again soon.

The if they can see them part is important. If the boars are in a closed barn instead of an open pen the trolls won't be able to see them and will attack the next lowest priority target.
