Defendable base in Mistlands?
Finally got to the Mistlands and would like to build a main base.
I'm comfortable building strong bases in the plains by taking advantage of natural features and terraforming with pits and so on.
But Mistlands has some powerful new enemies including some that fly. Can I build an almost invulnerable main base in Mistland and what are some suggestions?

...and that's why I build bases under the large indestructible trees that are there. I fill any holes between roots with terrain 'walls'/fill and have found it fairly workable, not so much in the way of Comfort Level, but if you can get a few together it provides a decent amount of space.
I try to do it right at the edge of a Mistlands and Plains/Black Forest/Swamp biome

Best defence is just create an ever increasing ring of workbench cover. Events still can't spawn inside workbench areas, but they will come to you so you'll still have to counter any flying event = bats, drakes, gjalls etc.
And obviously, have earth walls to counter land based nasties.
I'd say use balistas, but they are largely proving utterly useless for me.

The tree idea sounds good. Or if I can find a big rock somewhere. And earth walls too.
Those Gjall raids concern me, but if natural earth walls work against land attack, perhaps "earth ceilings" can work against air attacks...
Considering starting off with a Hobbit hole by building a shelter, and then terraforming land above the roof as natural protection. Then expanding sideway/downwards into a luxury Hobbit hole or Dwarven fortress. Just need to find a way to get sunlight in while keeping that roof... And keeping framerate decent...
No idea if it'll work but let's see

Mh, i’ve seen lately a 2 star seeker soldier take out a dvergr base including 5 dvergr in no time, so i’d say the answer is no, you’ll not be able to build an invulnerable base.
I’ve just built a mushroom farm on the edge of the biome, hoping no Gjall flying by and destroying it.

Tried the workbench “trick”, but soldiers keep coming and destroy the benches.
