Valheim Plus
After today's update it seems to have made the game not work properly. https://imgur.com/a/C8ZCWLL

If it does only VR, perhaps it is easy to maintain and updated version is online as quickly as mod loaders or simple mods?

Valheim+ solves all of the QOL needs I desire and I only have to wait for one mod update.
It works. It works well. And, it is usually updated within a few days.

Some mods are very simple, one-tasked,(e.g. texture or sound file) or deal with Unity (config file for the engine) rather than with Valheim proper. I only have to update the mod loader to Valheim's newest version (I usually wait for one day), and I can use the same mods for more than a year. I don't know for sure because I am not ready to use mods as the game is updated too frequently.
Players who use Valheim Plus or UI mods are more likelly to be bugged by an update if the mod is not maintained, just because of the extend of what is modded. Keep away from giant, Swiss-knife mods, and you should be fine.
Then you get us unfortunate people who really only need a single mod that only does one thing but that one thing is so major it breaks every update anyways.
Namely VR :(

Very much this. The more the mod encompasses, the likelier it is to break when something is changed in base game. Keep away from giant, Swiss-knife mods, and you should be fine.
I have other reasons for not wanting to use V+, but that's neither her nor there. I'd recommend people use a mod manager (specifically I'd recommend r2modman, which is basically the same as Thunderstore Mod Manager without the overhead fluff) and just add mods as needed; makes things a ton easier for me and my servers.

I highly recommend people stop using it right away
Its code is very fragile and flawed.
I removed it added alternatives and my server has stabilized for the better.
Welcome to the party... [/quotemany functions no have simple alternaative.aka stack mods ? why every stack mod have weight reduction? and ♥♥♥♥♥ setings .

Valheim Plus' original developer has been MIA since just after the Mistlands drop.
Grantapher (community member) has released a number of updates to keep it running, most recent fix was put up today. My best advice is to join the V+ discord and follow the advice listed there should you want to continue using V+. I will personally be using it for as long as it's maintained but obviously each to their own. :)

Any chance you know if V+ issued an update after the cross play patch or an ETA?
from the V+ discord:
"there's an alpha in testing so hopefully in the next couple of days it will pass testing and be released"
Do without or revert your game to the pre-patch state for now.
FYI, the early release is now available on their discord in the alpha-releases channel. I've been using it with a friend and not had any issues so far and my version has most of the config edited so seems OK for general use.

you wouldn't, by chance, know how to enable the '-beta...' in a docker version of a valheim server... would you?
EDIT: NVM I figured it out. Just had to append '-beta...' after the game ID inside the docker settings

To switch branches in your Steam Library, do the following (for the players, not the server):
Right click on the Valheim entry in your Steam Library, click Properties.
In the left column, choose Betas. Select "default_old" from the dropdown menu.
Password should not be needed.
Your Steam client will then go back to the old version (not sure if it needs to download the game again to do that). As soon as the server has updated, you can do the same thing again and choose "Non" in the beta dropdown menu. After that, you should be able to use the new features on your server worlds.
Edit: Don't know if this works for singleplayer games with mods.

For all server owners that run modded server and have V+ installed only to be able to use bepinex and add more mods, i might have a solution for you.
When i started my modded server, a friend suggested to install a mod named ValheimMinus which will remove ValheimPlus but i will still be able to use bepinex.
After this patch i only needed to wait for some time so Gportal can update the game. Everything is working now and i didn't change a thing.

It does not need to download the game again. For me it just downloaded a 35-ish MB "patch" to revert the game back to the previous version. To switch branches in your Steam Library, do the following (for the players, not the server):
Right click on the Valheim entry in your Steam Library, click Properties.
In the left column, choose Betas. Select "default_old" from the dropdown menu.

Some people are reporting that starting up the game after reverting back to a previous version is giving a glitchy, flashing screen. Those people have also reported that it seems to be a case of the game reverting to default settings when "unpatching" and using something like the GeForce Experience to fix the graphics settings and allow it to play.

They're going to have to completely rip out and replace some of the code to get it to work with console. There really aren't any games out there that can go from PC exclusive to crossplay without breaking loads of mods. The lack of downwards compatibility is a bit disappointing :/
There is no way for Valheim to pull off this switch without breaking several mods, and there is no way for Valheim Plus to have possibly prepared for this without knowing the details of the changes well in advance (and possibly even then).
While I'm disappointed in the decision to support other platforms and include crossplay (because in my experience, 100% of the time an early access game does that, it leads to a serious reduction in the pace at which roadmap features are released, as the dev team spends a huge amount of time working on the platform compatibility and making sure existing and future features work with the other platforms - none of which benefits CURRENT owners of the game who bought early access and are waiting for the rest of the features that are supposed to be added), there was no way they could make this decision and have the downward compatibility that you'd like.

Currently, as the warning goes, Valheim is not officially supporting mods.
Except the fact that Irongate has drug their feet on this so hard that the only reason the game isnt totally dead is BECAUSE of the modders

Not the first time something like this will happen, nor the last.
Currently, as the warning goes, Valheim is not officially supporting mods. The modding community is alive and well however, and will presumably update any broken mods in the following hours or days, depending on complexity and the creators.
So, just a little patience and you'll be able to return to using it again after an upgrade of the mod.

Have the exact same problem, you will also see an endless stream of errors reported in the cmd. The sentence "Isgamepadactive" springs out.

Hey folks,
Valheim Plus is not a part of Valheim and not under the control of Iron Gate. Please take your mod issues to the respective mod authors.
Please remember that as of now modding is not officially supported. It's done at your own risk, there are no guarantees for future compatibility. Please keep backups of your save files before you start modding. If you need technical support, please always include a full list of active AND prior mods, since that can influence the game's behaviour with regard to bugs.
Thanks!
