Mist too dense?
Anyone else feel that way? While I'm old and my eyes just aren't as good as they once was, I don't think that's the reason why I struggle to see more than a couple steps and occasional clear glimpses through the mists. I've looked forward to the new stuff in Valheim but the gameplay isn't fun (for me) when I can't actually see the game I'm trying to play very well.
Is there a way to turn off or thin out the mist so it's a bit more accessible?

yea looking at the mist brings my GPU to 80c and above Also feels like its not optimized for graphics atm. Top end computer shouldnt be running this hot for ps1 graphics with particle effects.

Can you please explain what you mean by corewood supports? I thought it ment to put the torch on top of a small corewood pole, but the seekers (and other things?) are still destroying them.
I believe they mean you should place a wisplight down then build a core wood pole such that the wisplight is hidden inside it.
Thanks. That's similar to what I've been trying, and it is working better. Some still go down, but I think it's mostly in the heat of battle.
Speaking of heat of battle :-)

I didn't know you could make wisp torches! I'm just making my first foray into the mist, and stayed up all (game) night gathering wisp, just to realize that I only really needed one. At least I have something I can do with the rest of them now.
I kind of like the idea of a wisp path, at least currently, while I'm first getting into it. I already got lost on my first short walk into it, so creating a lighted path seems like a good idea.
Unfortunately, I didn't make a black metal axe, so I have to sail back to my last outpost and make one... and pick up the rest of the wisps.
I would up using two portals for mistlands. One by a makeshift port in a near by black forest, and one I use for roaming thru the biome hiding it way up high.

You can build core wood supports on top of built Torches to make enemies not attack them. (For a single torch built on the ground level can just use 1 Corewood for the smaller support), but yea they should definitely add more ways to remove mist than there are currently. Like a Boat one would be nice as currently the Wisplight only removes mist from around you and since you steer the boat from the back end, you can't remove mist from the front end lol.

I'm not using portals, and I don't want to wear the wisplight, since it limits how much I can carry, so I've been trying to use wisp torches to mark my path, but keep finding them knocked down by something.

I feel they overdid the mist.
My two biggest things are that it's just a bit too annoying and detracts too much from general game play. The last part is vanity for me, it's hard to get good views. Sure you can clime up high above the mist. It should be easier to see thru, not a lot just a little.

It does emphasize building a way through the mists. Wisps generate by themselves so instead of the plains where at first you sprint through trying to outrun the goblin horde you are kinda making a slower magic-reinforced expedition into the bug pits. I think a brief period where the mists parted for maybe 5 minutes at high noon so i could get a view of the landscape would be cool though

I believe there's a mod that gets rid of the mist. You can also jump into devcommands console and use the "env clear" command to make it clear weather. If you go in with a wisplight at that point it's easier to see things and the mist is in concentrated areas.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I've tried the wisplight, and it does clear a very small radius around me but doesn't clear mist anywhere near as quickly as I can run, which leads to a slightly frustrating stop-start feeling to exploration, and no hope of piloting a boat around! It really slows things down. I had thought it would entirely banish the dense mist spots or clear faster, but... alas no.
I had thought it was just a pretty environmental effect that my video or game settings might have been making stronger than necessary and I don't really want to turn off mechanics if it's intended to be a part of the difficulty of the area. It's a shame that it's quite so strong though, as I do have some difficulty with my sight. It seems that the Mistlands are really MISTlands!

So collected a dozen wisps and wood and been salting my current area with static Mystlights on rock outcroppings or generally outta the way as critters will attack them. Does seem to help..
