I wouldn't get my hopes up, honestly. From what I've seen from them, Hildr's Quest is going to be pretty basic.

Then there’s always hope that they add support post-launch so we can mod that in ourselves.

I've been toying around with a mod called "Marketplace And Server NPCs Revamped" that's pretty decent. Combining it with self-created items using the "WackysDatabase" mod seems like it'll be a good option as well. Been thinking of making my own quest lines with it, and even having somewhat-OP gear that can't be repaired as rewards or purchasable items (the "can't be repaired" so it doesn't get too OP).

I'm HOPING that Hildr's will be better than all that, but I'm not optimistic.

Yes, being able to buy more things would be nice, maybe even materials.

I've downloaded a mod exactly for NPCs. really does make the world feel alive. i would recommend looking at the modding scene if you're into that.
