Thanks for all the replies - I learned what a silly idea it is and why. Hours spent searching for seeds for no good reason. ARGH!

I do not like the idea.

There are enough mechanics presented currently to finish this 'Boss Hunt' title. In my opinion, continuing to add needless mechanics and 'ideas' cultivates doom for the completion of the project.

No. Only certain plants in order to keep gathering as part of the gameplay loop. Currently carrots, turnips, flax, barley, can be farmed.
Carrots and turnips you plant 1 veggie to get 3 seeds, plant added to get 1 veggie. Keep them about 1 m apart or they can fail to grow. Takes just a few days to grow.
Flax and Barley only will grow in the Plains and you plant 1 to get 2.
We know onions are being added as well, maybe more, with H&H.
On the note of farming, you can also tame hogs.

You only need 1 of each to plant your own and shortly have an endless supply.

Berry/Mushrooms sadly need to be collected manually out in the wild. There ARE mods that let you plant them though. All other crops can be replanted to get 3 more seeds from each one.
