How to prepare for Moder?

Just found the marker from frost cave and my RNG says that Moders altar is here, on the same mountain range :steamhappy: https://imgur.com/a/wCgtPwV

For omnomnom onion soup, wolf skewer and sausages
Heal and stamina potions at ready
Which arrows? Obsidian, poison or needle? Using the Draugr fang poison bow.
Iron mace and silver shield at my arms while wearing troll leather pants, fenris coat, wolf cape and drake helmet, all max level. Haven't found enough fenris hair to make matching pants

Going to level the ground as much as possible while raising few pillars to act as cover and 4 teleports is a must. One below the altar to use to teleport back if something goes wrong and hopefully 3 others to use as entry points.
There most likely will be debris so autopickup off

What am I missing here?

I built a good size trench around the spawn pedestal so that I could shoot her from below her and if I needed more food or stamina got low I could just run around the circle and be safe for a few seconds. It took a while, like all day in game, and the closest I came to death was due to a few wolves that ganked me, but I got her. Because it will take so long, solo at least, best to have a near by base with a portal so you can get there early with full rest and food buffs, as if you didn't know that, right?
I wonder how a few ballistas would help...

Ok, I have circled the summoning altar with workbenches and started to deforest the place. Seems like the altar now has a base that continues down to the bedrock so no cheesy teleport there but scouted few good locations for them.

Made full stacks of obsidian and needle arrows. More meads are brewing and going to make another bow once I have raided the swamps for materials even if one fully upgraded bow should be enough for couple hundred arrows?
2 stacks of fire arrows as a backup should finish the job and they light her up nicely if the fight goes well into night.

This sounds like a plan and going to wear full set of wolf armor tho I'm not too confident as remembering her to be one though cookie in melee.

Sadly I don't yet have access to that technology but it would have been interesting to kite Moder and let ballistas shoot her down.

Will try to circle her in melee and try this out even if it would result in a not so great battle experience but a victory is a victory and I'll take it

So much to do, so much to prepare but happily spend this time for not to die miserably

Use the hoe to make earthen pillars that will block certain attacks from Modor.

Draugr fang and a stack or two of obsidian arrows, something to prevent constant frost damage. That's it.

If you get hit as an archer, just stop getting hit. Getting hit as an archer is a choice. Their are no excuses for that sort of behaviour.

Just don't get hit by the ice crystals. In that armor, I don't think you'd survive one hit. Even if you did, the slowing affect would probably do you in soon after.

My preferred method is to simply make a hiding spot at the edge/under the alter that I can duck into when she takes flight and hop out when she lands to jab her with the silver sword a few times. It goes pretty fast that way. Much faster than shooting a million arrows.

If she doesn't see you in the hole, she shouldn't shoot the ice crystals at you, but if she catches a glimpse, she'll likely destroy your cover, so it is best to have one or two backups.

Will do! Thank you :steamhappy:

And thank you all!
Have now made chest and leg pieces of wolf armor and will farm for some more needles before attempting to bring down her. With the preparation ahead it will take some time to fortify 2-3 teleports for spawning in. I believe that the one below her altar will be crucial as it will draw her to it when/if teleporting away to repair, regen sumthing as she will camp at that location and hopefully not destroy my other teleports, leaving me free to enter and engage at my leasure.

Damn, I feel my pulse raising already :steamhappy:
Step one is to cover the whole place with workbenches and level the ground as much as possible

The altar coverage is very small, just maybe half a floor piece wide. You will have to supplement with a roof/floor that will get broken. Keep a workbench under there so you can put it back up. That way she won't see you when flying. Could also fit a fire under there to get rested back if you need it. Make it easy to get in and out so you can get her while she's on the ground. If you are under the altar, she will likely land on top of it.

needle arrows. Take 2 bows and many, many arrows if you want to kill her with ranged.
if you plan to melee, you won't need so much, take bow and 2 stacks of arrows.
silver shield should be upgraded to max.
your armor is low and if you melee she will hurt you badly. You should be in all wolf upgraded armor. fenris and troll armor have very low armor values, even iron set was better. Fenris is only useful if using the associated fist weapons not an iron mace.

Basically you have set yourself up armor wise to do a ranged kill, so 2 bows and 4-5 stacks of needle arrows are your go-to, and then its just bob&weave while shooting.

If you insist on going in with light armors, then I would suggest upgrading your troll leather leggings to a higher tier armor and max that out. A second bow on hand wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Other than that, it looks like a perfectly fine loadout and you've put some decent thought into prep work.

If you're going primarily with archery, then Needle, obviously. Poison arrows can potentially do more damage [26 Pierce+52 Poison versus 62 Pierce], but the DOT aspect of poison will require sticking with a slow rate of fire (otherwise the poison can end up being rather wasted), which, of course, is not a recommended plan. If you have a limited supply of Needle arrows, then I would say Obsidian for your backup arrows.
