Did they nerf Serpent spawns?
I have gotten 5 in one night before...
I know its a small sample size, but the last three game nights I got 2 in the first night and skunked the next two.

do you know how long a long boat is in game (in meters)?
I think they're about 22m long. Been a while since I've built a boathouse.

Nope its just RNG , with a 5% of spawn at night in a 64mx64m square at sea ( and a blockspawm of 1000 secs if not spawn in that square ) , so best you can do its sail in a longboat in their 3rd speed to pass each square faster
Remember 5% at normal night and another + 5% if its raining/storming
