Why is it...
...that so many come into a survival game just to render the point of it moot by adding a thousand mods. Not really a gripe, just a legit and serious question. Of curiosity.
I can understand things like separate gear slots, etc for quality of life. But straight up things like flying, water walking, invincibility to a character or ship... just don't get it.

Honest answer? Because we can. Because some of us like to play the game a certain way. Because we see certain things make more sense than what the developers might see and want to play the game. And sometimes some folks (like me) just want to chill and be viking immortals who can fly and not worry about the next Skeleton Surprise. Ok? Ok. :)

Well if the Publisher claims that its a lie. Well it says Survival on the Store page. So what is Valheim?
If you mean the playertag,.. its more a statement about the steam users.
btw its probably a action adventure

Is it too crazy to imagine that other people know what they want out of the game better than we do?
Some people have already played through the current content or have done much of this stuff hundreds of times over elsewhere. Maybe if this was some interconnected pvp-focused live service game, other people cheating to get ahead might affect my experience, but it's not so it doesn't.
This game is a great platform to build mods off of. I haven't used any mods yet personally, but knowing that some other people might ruin the game for themselves, is both inevitable and a small price to pay in exchange for the freedom to check out other mods that might expand the game or somehow improve quality of life functions.

Not going to say that I don't use mods. I have before, but very very sparsely, and usually after full release to avoid issues. But I've never used any other than quality of life mods.
As I said, was just curious why some use mods that in essence, make the game overly easy and plays the game for them.

The implication is that mods make it less of a survival game. But mods can also make it MORE of a survival game, and add more challenge. ...that so many come into a survival game just to render the point of it moot by adding a thousand mods. Just on't care about it. You play your game, I play my mine, others play theirs. As long as it is singleplayer, people can mod anything into oblivion for all I care.

Some people like challenges, some people like sandbox creations, some people like roleplaying and some just want to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere.

Because the pool of people that create/use mods are a beautiful duality of humankind. They are, at any given instance, both hardworking visionaries and cancerous whiners.
They want what they want out of the experience, regardless of the original mindset of the developer, and they know how to go get it. It'd be admirable, if it wasn't so often irritating.

Honestly, Valheim is (was?) not a typical survival type game. I never liked any other survival games, but I did like Valheim, for whatever reason. ...that so many come into a survival game just to render the point of it moot by adding a thousand mods. Also, I think, in Valheim you face those limitation harder, the further you get:
- Inventory (slots and weight) - You are most of the time out of space, forcing you to get back to base to get rid
- Distance - If you are really far away, you can use portals, but no metals. Otherwise, you have to run back or just build another base. Both options sound painful most of the time.
- Day/Night - It feels, that daytime is too short and nighttime also forces to go back to base.
I know, that everything is part of the philosophy of Valheim, but it feels a bit artificial sometimes.

Well a friend of mine loves to build things in games so I added the OdinArchitect mod so he has more building pieces to work with. I do agree that mods that add cheats are pointless and defeat the purpose of playing a game though. That's why I only add things that actually add things.

Survival is about acting smart, since thats impossible in this game (defined Progress path) its anyway no survival game, not in the slightest
