I think I know what you're getting at now, since the world save location is where it counts? Correct me if I am wrong of course.

Dedicated Server
The world save on my dedicated server for 9 active players takes about 2 ish to 5 ish seconds with a lag in the 3 ish end seconds of it. Then another weird 2 ish second lag a couple of minutes after it. The world save size is about 98 MB's. We are on day 1,892, just killed Bonemass. Hosted on a Mini PC using 8 GB DDR4 RAM, and Intel Celeron 4 Cores 2Ghz CPU.

Wife's Co-Op PC for two
In my co-op game with my wife, so just the two of us, the save takes about 5 to 10 ish minutes on her computer, depending on what is being viewed on the screen. Eg: during a storm, the save is longer. The save file is about 2.5 MB's. We are on day 5, with fresh characters, and a fresh new world. Her PC using 24GB DDR3 RAM, Gigabyte Radeon R9 380 4GB Windforce GPU, and AMD FX-6300 3.5Ghz CPU.

Solo Game
Mind you, on my own computer, playing solo, the save takes about 2 seconds, with lag during that time. My file is about 25 MB's, on day 153. My PC using 40GB DDR4 RAM, MSI 8GB RX 570 Armour GPU, and AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4Ghz CPU.

The save time has been consistent from day 1 to current day for both co-op and solo games. Dedicated server has teeter tottered from 2 to 5 seconds from time to time.

It wasn't that bad until this last construction...I've got all my farms setup, it was in taking my Swamp biome hub base out of the shabby state I found it in.

If I'm not mistaken the devs have acknowledged their save technique is less than optimum. I believe they have expressed the intent to fix that at some point.

What about cloud save times? Am I to believe that the save file for my world(s) (currently 300MB) takes 2-3 minutes to sync? I just did a speedtest and my upload speed is clocking at just under 10 Mbps.

Mmm... I don't know about cloud saving. I disabled Steam's cloud years ago.

HMM never thought to time it but its rather quick for me. Not much help I'm sure but never thought I would be asked either.

The time is shown in the top-left corner after the saves are completed.

The second number has been more than 5 seconds in worlds with like 300 days played.
I've just noticed it gets longer and longer as the world ages; I have no particular observations beyond that,

1-4 + roundabout 4 secs
the more one manipulates the world the longer the save takes
been here and there in the world and so i can say its nothing big (nearly 400 ingame days now)

Increasing time to save data is inevitable with a pile of files database unless the world file allows random access by having records of fixed size. This would make the world file bigger, but only records which had been changed would need to be written.

If they are not doing this, but saving the whole world file every time, then save times will steadily increase as you explore and build.

I think they should use SQLite for the database. They would get random-access and a whole lot more.

the world save for me is a quick little lag spike that stops me in my tracks, hate when it happens in combat lol.

I would imagine the amount of the world you've explored + the amount of building and terrain modification you've done increase it.
