IMO, the boss fights... at least the first couple, have been nerfed pretty hard. I did SP back when the game first came out, before the nerfs, and I remember having a much harder time.

You can roast fish but you need to clean it first using the cauldron.

Yes you need to clean the fish of all its guts and scales so you can cook the raw fish, this required the cauldron.
I would have put in a fish cleaning table instead of using the cauldron if it was me.

It takes no special tools to gut a fish other than a knife. I can gut and filet a trout in like a minute tops if its a big one. There should be no reason we cant take a fish and cook it, like every other meat and like how it used to be. Its a pointless additional for additions sake.

Look at my first replie and you see the reason.

Have you seen the size of rank 5 or 4 pikes or trollfish? I'd use more than a knife for those.

But yeah, it's really quite awkward to not be able to catch a meal out on an expedition. I hope they eventually make it possible to sear at least some fish on a campfire.

My first fish ever(in pts) was a rank 4, now i only get the low trash sadly.

Seems like a weird way to balance in my opinion when they could have just nerfed the stats of cooked fish and provided an actual dish that uses fish and other stuff to give the better food stats. They basically added an extra unnecessary step to justify the food instead of actually balancing it.

As i told you balance... Now you need the first piece of the cooking station, which means you need to kill the first boss.

Funny you say its easier now, since i see people say its harder now.
But you didt replie to my point on the bosses. Bosses gate keep more now, then befor this update, some things are now locked behind boss progression, which was not the case befor this update, same goes for eating fish or be it ymir flesh and the new eggs.

I dont find it any more strange then all the new things, been locked behind boss progression.
So in short yes and no. I think its weird, but i can accept it.
For the devs does what they feel there vision are, now matter what we say, hence why we still dont get to plant berries or teleport ores.

There are some changes that make things interesting, and some changes that just seem to be changes. My take is that the developer team does not have the same unity of vision that they did when the game was first released. The first hint of that was the delay for H&H. After that, a delay in the release of Mystlands, eventually leading to an announcement that the team was generally unhappy with the first incarnation of the Mystlands, and would go a different direction. So I guess I am a little concerned about the direction the game is going, and the overall "vision" for the game. All I know is that, before any of this screwing around, I could walk along the shore, find, and cook tasty fish.

All progress is change, but not all change is progress. IMO, that's where we are.

Probably because they made the stats on cooked fish too good for the meadows, still find it an odd choice to that they made all these different kinds of fish that drop the same cookable, I guess due to inventory bloat.

Hopefully they'll do some thinking on this in future QoL passes once the other biomes are stitched in.
