mountain corpse runs

Corpse runs in a single player game are bad enough, but are you kidding me? I can't get anywhere without frost resistance, and 25 health is gone as soon as I trip over a rock, so I go through all sorts of prep just to get my corpse.. only to die again anyhow. Rinse, repeat, ragequit.

Sigh... and here is an example of why games end up getting dumbed down until they are a borefest.

Players who don't think things through (backup set of armor, weapons, proper food, potions), and too big of a hurry. Then come to the forums and complain like it's a fault of the game instead of your own lack of preparation and insight.

If you make a backup set of armor and weapons, have plenty of food and potions on hand, and take your time, nothing in this game is impossible. You don't even need console commands.

More satisfying (IMO) to succeed with such tough situations to do it the way I described than just cheesing away your mistakes.

There is people who help out, when you need to get your stuff back.
Just make a post about needing help, to get gear back and people will show up.

First structure that went up in the village after beds were sorted was a sundial.

How does a sundial work when your in a swamp?

Or in the mountains during a blizzard.

I had to port around to get food and equipment, so guess I could have ported to a meadows base to check the time. I didn't even think of it though, until it was suddenly getting dark and I'm out there burning all my stamina trying not to fall off the mountain, while being chased by wolves.

When things get too tough, use cheat console (press f5), type devcommands then god. You must enable it first by typing -console in Lauch Properties. Use it only when you are going to rage quit, so you don't have to stop playing an awesome game.

Or don't play for couple of days and you probably get things done the right way.

Good advice, I may do that. I've never used the console, but maybe I'll start doing it for corpse runs. I hate that mechanic. I miss the days of just saving your game and reloading when you die. I don't understand why games need to be more punishing than that now.

(Even in a co-op game, saving and reloading would work, if you save/reload for everyone in the game at the same time.)

Why not make some armor to do the corpse run?

I did, that's part of the prep I was talking about. I ate food, rested, made sure to bring a spare wolf cloak, and then lost all that, too. I'm done.

Roflmao, pray tell you have a youtube channel and a vid there? Everyone try to be so awesome and cool streamer that people like you are a rare treasure.

You can actually make a functional sundial in this game, meadows are full of suitable large clearings.

I find it positive that there is a game 2021 which can make players to rage quit.

Think about what you need to do before going

All you need is a rested buff, 1 hp food and 2 stamina + frost resistance potion.

Then just run up and recover your body. And do not stop. You can jump over rocks to avoid any chasing wolfs as you are much faster with no armor.
You could also take a portal materials up and place them on top of some rocks, grab your items, run back into portal and re-equip.

I realy hope you are not trying to recover your items at night tho.

I normally start a corpse run at daybreak. If I respawn after midday, I will get the armor, weapons, food, and meads I need for a corpse run and then sleep. I have discovered that food timers and the corpse run timer do not run while one is sleeping. Mead timers are a lot shorter so I take a few seconds close to the biome edge to drink meads.

This technique may not work if one's corpse is more than a quarter day's travel (five real time minutes) from one's bed. In such a case, I will set up a forward base close to the biome with a portal connected to the base that has my bed.

I always try to eat one food with a duration of 20 minutes. Since Valheim daylight is 20 minutes long, a glance at that food's countdown timer will tell me how much daylight I have to work with.
