Yagluth thing & Mistlands

Wondering if they will change the Yagluth Thing placeholder drop into whatever it is going to be ahead of the Mistlands release.

Any predictions? My guess would be; some sort of eternal personal lantern that would be armed in the place of the Wishbone or Megingjord.

If I was into baseless speculation I'd watch CNN.

Well they had mist in Black Forest and it wasnt that bad... I think they could kick it up just a notch or two and it would be great. Not like fog-on-the-ocean or Mountains-Blizzard bad...

Or potentially just decent fog all the time, but weather effects like blizzards or rain where the fog rolls in extremely thick for a period of time.

Im thinking building bases in Mistlands is going to be a real visual treat tbh
Take your lodges and long halls and castles and drop them in a misty biome where they jut up from the fog, torches and lanterns aglow

But based off of all that speculation and running with the lantern idea...

How about the mistlands due to being perpetual night and in a dense fog is basically just blindly wandering around unless you have the Yag Lantern that will clear an area around you.

Frankly I expect to not enjoy the mistlands much as I do like the environments and seeing them... the whole fog thing while quite atmospheric is just much less visually appealing to me.

That said though the limited visibility area could allow them to increase enemy spawns without impacting performance too much if they don't have to be rendered that far out from the player. So more "swarming" types of enemies like the bats/skeletons but in greater numbers.

Devs have stated they will swap in the item. I hedge my bets and won't count on it.

The new item will certainly be for progression to the Mistlands but honestly I think there are going to be some big changes done to progression in the Plains to adjust for moving on.

What that item will end up being will likely tie into those changes. So any speculation at this point is probably meaningless.

Well not so much that but at some point it is like the blood cell trying to speculate the nature of the universe.

Feel free but .... just be aware there are probably going to be many unknown factors that just can't be known now.

Let's look at this another way, by analysis of current boss drops.
Each boss drop has had a unique way to act as a progression gate.

antler - crafted directly into a tool

Key - non crafted item to directly unlock an area

wishbone - non crafted item that needs to be equipped to use <iron itself also acts as a gateway due to needing iron to mine the silver>

Tears - part of a recipe to create a crafting station to produce items needed to process/craft weapons/armor/food

Now the tears really already produce the padded armor that is really the transition armor for the Mistlands.

So logically the Yag drop should be something to work with resources from the mistlands in some unique way in order to make the next level stuff.

We have no idea what might be in the next biome to even process. We have no idea if things will be changed in the plains to sort of nerf the plains stuff now and make it for Yag... just like how they swapped things around so you can't make serpent stew without iron.

It's most likely a crafting item we need to move forward.
