World eater bug

Does it still exist? Want to start a new server but too afraid of getting burnt again.

Just happened to me... All progress in the world lost, along with hours of loot. Also had two weeks where my friend could not acces the game.

Yeah also roughly 200 hours played on the game and i have never lost anything due bugs. Playing usually on a dedicated server, either my own hosted or remote.

If you are really concerned about that, setup periodic backup saving.

^

I make a habit of backing up Val once a day, minimum.

I've never experienced the bug you describe, but it sounds like someone let Jörmungandr out again.

well, the problem is that noone wants to tell how they activate this bug or how to reproduce it ;D
since only handful of people have this bug... it's impossible for devs to reproduce it

the only currently known thing that can cause this is messing with steam cloud and failing

On the startup screen, look to the lower left corner. Click on Show Player.log. That is the secret destination of your save files. Easiest way to make a back-up imho.

If I lose items due to a bug I'll cheat them in on my sandbox world but I would regularly keep saves as the game is in early access still.

well, the problem is that noone wants to tell how they activate this bug or how to reproduce it ...
... it's impossible for devs to reproduce it
EXACTLY !! If there's a major bug developers need exact steps to reproduce the issue. Find exact steps to reproduce the problem, list those exact steps and the bug can be fixed.

*GOOD EXAMPLE:*
ISSUE: World Eater Bug
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1) Build home with a basement in any black forest area
2) Chop down tree which strikes the home
3) Save and exit the game
OBSERVED RESULTS:
A) Game starts with empty world and all progress lost
EXPECTED RESULTS:
A) Game would load character and area of last saved area

======================

** BAD EXAMPLE:**

There's this world eater bug which breaks the game. All my loot and progress is gone. What's the progress on this issue?

======================

The good example can be fixed...... the bad example will be ignored.

Waht about the games 20 minute interval autosaves; doesn't they bring it back with a slight reset when you load it up?

Just had a world go bad.

Couldn't go more than a couple of minutes without a crash with my latest save.

Back up was only a couple hours old but this is DEFINITELY something that needs to get sorted out before release, preferably ASAP. This type of issue were people can lose 100's of hours of progress will generate a lot of bad social.

Damn... And you're absolutely right, it needs to be fixed.
We'll all lose our progress when new biomese roll in though. There's that. A thing anyone putting in many hours should keep in mind.

Isn't that still open as to whether or not that will occur?
