Quest giving NPCs / NPCs "for hire"

Threads are being created suggesting the addition of quest giving NPCs and/or NPCs "for hire" (similar to the Villagers in Minecraft).

There will not be quest giving NPCs nor NPCs "for hire" in Valheim.

And in case you wonder, yes, strictly spoken Haldor and Hugin are NPCs. In that regard, there was no decision made yet. So you might or might not see another new NPC similar to Haldor or Hugin in the world of Valheim.

Suggestion: Let me recruit NPC goblins/humans
For single player I would love the ability to hire or sway monsters to build.

Create a blue print where you want something built - plop it down, fill up the blue print with resources and your NPC build it so you can have some live activity...or will things just be built immediately like rust?

It's a neat idea but for another game, it's not in the spirit of this one.
I suggest to play the game for a bit and learn what it's about before making suggestions.

To repeat: You should stop talking as you make the devs look bad. Your requisite post on every single suggestion etc is just annoying and immature, smacks of a 14 year old on the internet

They should take away whatever the gold name of yours is because you aren't helping. Nobody cares what YOU think is "in the spirit" of the game, rejecting every suggestion or idea when YOU AREN'T A DEVELOPER OF THE GAME.

I do find the last part of that a bit offensive "learn what it's about before making a suggestion", lol.

Wasn't really necessary it's an early access game even if it can't directly happen maybe a form of it can be inserted or it'll spark another idea.

"Players are welcome to suggest new features and modifications in the "ideas & suggestions"

Is what the front page of the store says.

lol - I mean, its so simple to see whats going on here, and straight away, im seeing the "lynching" tactic at hand here.

Automatically, any mature or person with common sense - can always tell that text, can be mis-interpreted when read.

I can tell straight away - that the mods answer, is in no way, shape or form, meant to be taking as "hostile" which is what every single person has done here - which just goes to show you the mentality of thought process in the current day and age we live in.

I get, the mod COULD have reworded it to a more reasonable response that wouldnt invoke the reaction it has, but its very clear that the mod, didnt mean "Maybe you should wait to actually play this game, cause you obviously dont have a clue what this game is, or what you are talking about!!" - Which is automatically the way people are reading his text (Hens mis-interpreted) - however, i think what they mean is "I appreciate the suggestions, however, once you actually play our game, you might find that your outlook will differ, and there for wait and see first!".

Again, obviously no offence to the mod, maybe english isnt first language.

But to automatically assume he must be a minor of sort, purely because hes typing in a passive aggressive way, actually, its the way most people READ text, that is the passive aggressive way.

But jesus christ guys, its 2021 - time to get passed this mindset.

And just to add, havent played the game - but the suggestions made by the op, do sound neat! :)

Singleplayer - npcs
So... If i wanna Play this solo.. i saw i can build a Base. The purpose of it is? Is IT getting attacked? Can i hire npc Guards / workers? Anything Like that?

The purpose is "progressing" ..... and you get attacked every now and then and sometimes raids start.
And no, nothing to hire, but you can tame some animals

Shame, this genre has been crying out for a proper fantasy village builder with actual threats.

Would be great to be able to hire/recruit people to help maintain and defend the camp, maybe assign some menial tasks to.

Weird how Diablo, a game that came out 3 decades ago has henchmen but not this? Maybe they simply lack coders with AI-skills?

Still baffles me how games keep adding "Single Player" when there is not single player to be had. Steam should get tougher on that.

I think I will wait for the Viking Mod for Bannerlord. For the actual Viking feeling :).

Well to be fair. Skövde isn't a big place so they probably already used up the 1 AI guy they had :D. It takes coding skills to produce Henchmen/AI and it is not here sadly.

I would love it if they added friendly npcs to the game. It's a very overlooked feature that I feel more people enjoy than developers realize.
