Yeah. Everything that a 1 or 2 star wolf drops, I found on the ground, pelts, fang, meat, you name it. There was heaps of it as I was trying to relocate & populate them in another area so no biggie there as I had other mating wolves at the time too, just annoying losing them all at once like that.

Try it yourself if you want, grab 2 wolves, set them to ''follow'' and go inside a Burial chamber or Troll Cave, but don't select ''stay'' before you walk in, keep them on follow mode.

If what the op is saying & what I witnessed marry up & the same thing happened, if others test it for themselves & bring it up here, then we would know for sure that this is a bug.

Ohhh yeah they'll follow your position through the forest below as you explore the dungeon.

Right, I had them set to follow and in the black forest. Before that I had watched them kill a Troll and only lost one. Also a bunch of greydwarfs and skeletons. Seems like there should have been a lot of carnage if they were legitimately killed by something. Or the troll still hanging around.

Also, not a Troll in sight, no Grey Dwarves or anything.

Troll caves mean trolls. They might not be in the cave, but they sure as hell are lurking around close by. You might have missed them. Trolls kill wolves very easily unless you have superiority in numbers. Not sure how many wolves you need to kill trolls reliably.

Might have been possible for the op, but 17x 1 stars & 3x 2 star wolves vs one troll? I doubt a troll could even do something like that. I'd chalk it up as some sort of bug I'd say.

Ok, that is... weird. :D Yeah, they should've massacred any troll they come across. That IS weird. I would report it as a bug.

Absolutely not if it gets the drop on them, they're a one-shot kill to troll ground pound.

Just to confirm: You said "Burial chamber" so you were in Black forest ? OK Troll might toast them with a few well placed hits I guess. If you meant "Sunken Crypt" then yeah no end of things that could kill 5 wolves in the short time between you going in and coming back.
For combat power in the open you just gotta have 1 star wolves or better really.

maybe they wondered into dayz and got put on a long stick :P

Wolfs are very weak against poison. I guess you can figure out the rest for yourself.
