how is it as Single Player

I'm short before finishing Subnautica below zero.

Can you play valheim like this game as SP only and have fun? I guess there is a bit more action in it but i'm really not interested in coop in any way.

thx

For sure, playing skills and planning before action (buffs, stamina management, spare equipments and shelter, ...) are something the player will learn the more the playtime, and they play an eminent role. But stats (character's skills) appear to help striking faster and longer, openning chained attacks and death blows (?). Swimming and Running are also obvious skills when experience will let a lot (duration of the action).

The game is a ton of fun. I play single-player only and really have quite enjoyed myself. If you like challenge, building, exploring and surviving then this game will keep you entertained.

I suggest going into it knowing as little as possible, makes the game even more fun because you learn as you play.

Remember, people are different, so you are going to get tons of different views. But it really is a very good game and we all agree pretty much on that.

Understand that "unfinished" does not mean unplayable. There are a lot of titles out there that were released half baked, including some AAA titles, full of bugs and problems. That is not the case with VH.

The game is extremely polished and bug free for EA. You won't get discouraged from constant bugs and CTD's. I got a couple of hundred hours out of it before I hit the "content" wall and now will wait for that to be expanded.

Great solo game at the moment. Very well balanced for a solo experience.

How early access is it? For the part of the game that is there it is very content rich and they are soon adding to that in a few days. What is here is very well polished and few bugs. Mostly server related issues that solo would not matter.

Should you get the game yet?
That depends.
If you just want to get through it and beat the bosses then I would say wait.

If you enjoy the journey/exploration/building aspect then I would say pick it up. I keep starting new characters on new world seeds just to explore and find good biome placement for bases etc and develop that world up to it end and then start a new one since i enjoy that part of the game.

So it really comes down to what you want to get out of the game for enjoyment.

thx. Maybe i wait for the next update then before starting it. It sound fun tbh. I'm more in for the exploring and buildung part.

Is it overly "realistic" and compicated?

I really love the way subnautica did it. Its survival but its easy to get the hand of it.

For example i tried Green Hell and imo it was awfully slow and way to complicated. So i got a refund.

How does it play in that regard?

Very simple and easy to understand.

Building interface is color coded for structural integrity while building so its easy to tell what will work or not. More advanced materials let you build bigger etc.

Survival is easy as well. You have a base 25 health and it will never drop below that. You eat for extra health and stamina and as you progress you get better foods etc. Stamina management is everything in a fight.

Maybe halfway done? They've been polishing the foundation of the game for better part of the year after launch, and are slowly getting into releasing more content. My guess/hope is that if all goes well, the game might reach 1.0 next year.

Frankly, you can pass days just in exploring, if you like it, already.

The worst game's aspect that can bore the newcomer is the loss of experience upon death, as death will come soon and later, and sometimes several deaths in a row. But really, the loss corresponds the gain after a few active in-game days (for 30ish stats).

I'd agree it's about half done, but extremely playable as is (there's plenty of full release games which don't feel as finished in a lot of ways). But, if you don't like starting over in this type of game now and then, I'd hold off playing for now.

Why? There's at least 4 significant content additions planned to flesh out a couple of mostly empty biomes and add more general content. We're about to get the first on the 16th which is Hearth & Home, that will add more building options, food types & all that goes with that, some combat adjustments and likely more we don't know about yet :)

Although the devs don't want to force people to start new games when these new content drops are released, it's likely to be something you need to do depending on how much of the map you have already uncovered etc.

Personally I enjoy starting over in games like this a few times because I can keep improving based on what I learned with each run, but I know there's plenty who don't enjoy doing that.

I would even go as far as to question whether there is any point in having skills in the game, considering that all players are going to have mostly the same skills. The only difference is the weapon skills and even there most players will level at least the bow and mace.
