Enemies running and attacking underwater
Its been a very long time since we played Valheim and I was a little disappointed to see this is still a thing after all this time.
For anyone who has been keeping up on devlogs and such, have they said anything about fixing this?
We had a skeleton follow us out into the ocean and shoot arrows at the underside of our boat. Everything about that statement makes no sense :P

I assume you're okay with the skeleton shooting arrows at you not making sense, but the underwater part you have a problem with? You're only willing to suspend your disbelief so far?
What? "everything about this statement makes no sense" does not mean only part of it
So, you don't want skeletons shooting arrows? How about green blobs that hop around and poison you? This is a fantasy game. Not everything is supposed to make sense. That's kind of the point.
Who's to say these animated skeletons that shoot arrows and swing swords can't move and shoot underwater?

says the person who has never had their Karve shot out from under tham during a "Fowl Smell from teh Swamp" RAID event. :D I assume you're okay with the skeleton shooting arrows at you not making sense, but the underwater part you have a problem with? IMO, there are far worse issues with interaction with the water that need to be addressed. If I'm in a boat, the skeletons are just an annoyance.
I was brinign my karve into our island base when the event started. Due to the steep sides of hte base none of the skeletons or Draugers could get at my freinds inside so once I came into range every archer started targetting my ship. It didn't last long and neither did I once it sank. On the up side we all had a great laugh over it and the mats for the Karve ended up in my tomestone so nothing but some skill points were lost.
And, why didn't you last long? Because you can't swim across a bathtub in this game, and you can't defend yourself in the water, nor can you even get out of the water without a stepstool, which are exactly what I was referring to.

So you'd have no problem if a rainbow unicorn farting it's way across the sky suddenly caused a greydwarf rave with a troll twerking contest with Bonemass as the DJ because "it's a fantasy game where anything can happen," do I get your argument right? So, you don't want skeletons shooting arrows? How about green blobs that hop around and poison you? This is a fantasy game. Not everything is supposed to make sense. That's kind of the point.

Excusing everything "because it's fantasy" is a lame cop-out.
Back to the actual topic, I don't mind the enemies that swim after us chucking stones and whatnot, like the Greydwarves; we can at least hit them. When a skeleton is walking along the seabed and shooting the ship, that's pretty unfair, but it's also not hard to sail away from them. It the water is deep enough for them to be submerged, then it's definitely deep enough to GTFO of there without running into sand bars and whatnot.

Please do some research on strawman arguments.
And you just went on to contradict your strawman by saying: "I don't mind the enemies that swim after us chucking stones and whatnot"

It was of course a crazy super storm at the time out in the ocean with insane waves and fog making it super hard to figure out where the rocks and things were :P

My apologies if I somehow slighted or offended you in anyway. It was not my intention.

Much like excusing nonsensical things "because fantasy," calling everything "strawman" doesn't make you "right" in the slightest. "I have no idea what 'strawman' means!"
"Strawmanning" is the act of presenting some unstated argument in place of that which was stated. Your argument was "it's okay because it's fantasy." I was refuting that argument by giving another scenario and asking if that was okay "because fantasy."
I don't know why you have the urge to even argue this as if you're in favor of it. You're not making any sense, and I really think you just want to argue for the sake of argument against anyone who's not 100% satisfied with how the game plays.

Black Forest coastlines are notorious for submerged rocks that love to batter any viking vessels, so I can understand that. The only thing I hate more is sailing alongside plains in deep fog and accidentally beaching on the sandbars, and then hearing the laughter of nearby Fulings.

Sorry. You didn't offend me. I have died many times in such situations, and I'm a bit touchy on the ease at which you can die in water.

You can use your argument to argue that everything in the game that doesn't exactly match the real world is wrong because, well, if you think walking skeletons is okay, then what about farting rainbows, or whatever you said. That is a strawman.
From later posts, it appears that the real problem is that the arrow shooting skeletons sunk a ship, which likely caused deaths, which were likely exasperated by the real point of my post, which is that there are more serious issues in this situation that need to be fixed, like swimming and fighting in water. That seems to contradict your "100% satisfied" argument.

You can shoot back from the boat. You can also run the skeleton over with the boat and destroy it.

agreed. IRL Arrows have crappy range in water, a few meters at most before the drag from the water brings them to a halt. Same with most bullets. A skealeton or Drugar archer being able to even hit you from a dozen meters away, let along do damage, just breaks immersion. Its been a very long time since we played Valheim and I was a little disappointed to see this is still a thing after all this time.

Despite this being a popular community suggestion, it's actually not listed in the pinned thread in the Suggestions & Ideas subforum. I can only assume that the devs don't even have this on their radar.
