How I fought 6 Wolves at the same time

I... didn't.

I killed 4 of them and then ran like a baby and walled myself in a tower.

Seriously though, double pack spawns are one of the most deadly encounters I can think of in this game. On the one hand, I like how brutal it is. On the other, the actual mechanics of the wolves were programmed by 2 Janitors and an intern who was out sick 45% of the time.

Here's hoping they get slightly tweaked in the future so that they don't have the total advantage on slopes. I'm gunna go finish building my shame-base so I can recover and beat the last two.

its weird how the plains are supposed to come after the mountain, and yet the wolves are harder to deal with then fulings

It is honestly their ability to fight vertically. Fulings and their bigger variants hit so much harder, but you can fight back. Wolves aren't nearly as hard on even ground, but god speed to you if they get you on a cliff-side.

Which is where my terrible luck usually puts me.

I think that stems from how we deal with them. It's popular to use spear against wolves because after blocking we can get a strike in faster than the wolf can. Its the only weapon capable of that strike speed but it has a limited hit range, especially on inclines. Wolves being on the mountainside take full advantage of this so id say its a pretty fair fight at that point. Were you to bring a sword or axe the whole fight would be a different strategy.

Fulings are dangerous in their DPS but kind of predictable when fighting alone and super easy to parry.

Indeed, though Iron Sledge does require a lot of crypt dwelling to get the money for the Ymir flesh (especially if you want to upgrade it). Then again if you decide to stockpile Iron anyway becasue you know that it will be useful in the Plains later, you will get the money while doing so. Then again, a new player won't know that.
