Does anyone like the growths?

No. This isn't an "I hate the new content" thread. :-)

I was looking for a tarpit last night and saw one up ahead just as a deathsquito aggro'd me. I ignored the deathsquito and jumped up on a nearby rock to get a better look. At that point the deathsquito flew to one of the growths and started stinging it. A couple of lox also started attacking them. Before long the deathsquito, one of the loxes, and all of the growths were dead.

Of course, it's normal for creatures to fight creatures from other biomes, but much less common between creatures in the same biome. The only other example I can think of is the greydwarves and skeletons.

Has anyone else seen this? I'm wondering if it was a one-off, or if it could be useful. Getting a tarpit cleared and getting a couple of loxes with very little effort seems like a win-win. Dragging a couple of loxes over to a tar pit wouldn't be hard if they're not too far away.

Growths are part of the Undead faction so they are hostile everything in the Plains.

Yes, and I think it's quite common. Fulings can be made attacking the Growths too. The risk in trying to pin these enemies against eachother, regardless it being Fulings or Lox, is getting caught in a shower of tar. Not fun being slowed with a horde of stampeding Lox on your heels.

I think Growth is a decent addition. Some noisy work to be done in the plains, against enemies that do pose a decent threat.

The whole destroying another biome while extracting some uclean, fossilic material, seems to fit into the rest of the game too. Not sure if there's a deeper message in this or if the devs just are messing with us.

I found another tar pit, but no lox nearby. It is next to a black forest, so I was able to lead a decent sized band of greydwarf there. Of course, they don't last long, so I don't know if it did anything other than provide a few seconds of entertainment. :-)

As long as you keep moving, you shouldn't have to worry to much about the tar. They also give you plenty of time to go in an melee them between shots.

Yes, I like them. You can find all out wars between them and the other stuff. I watched and epic battle with a squito (squito lost, but it killed at least 1 growth), and lured 3 lox into a pit (lox won, I finished them off they were in bad shape). The multi-pit spawns (2-3 or more? pits in one small area) are better than anything on TV esp if there is a village or forest or something nearby to keep the action going.

I have already grown bored with gathering tar though. Digging drainage pits ... is the pits. Thankfully I mostly work in stone, so I have just stopped bothering with it.

I like them, they are a good challenge but I want them to have their own shape and textures cause now it's just a black blob which I find a bit lazy
And I love seeing them wrecking plains' mobs. I tried to attract a one star berserker close by but in the end I was the one everyone was after :D
