My son and I had a super small way to sail and we have been stuck in the middle of this river for 20 minutes. The raft will not turn. It just doesn't move.

Blaming the devs for a skill deficiency?

You need to either row (no sail), or sail with the wind. If the wind icon isn't white, then you're not going to be able to use your sail.

It sounds like your boat is stuck on land. The best shot you have is either breaking your boat down and putting it somewhere that has deep enough water, or getting out and pushing the boat physically with your character until it's in deep enough water.

Raft is really just to teach you how to use the sailing mechanic. It is really not a good way to actually travel with. Walking is faster.

That said, you can actually still sail even when the wind seems to go "against" you. Just try it. The raft/boat may act weird, but that is how it goes in real life. This is how you learn how to sail.

Also, you can row. Just try the movement keys (Usually WASD) and you will figure it out quickly.

The raft is likely stuck. It’s not really a tool you want to use in rivers though, it’s a poor vehicle at best. Usually you only want to use it on open waterways to cover short distances between islands. You’re far better off just waiting until you can make the Karve instead, that is a proper boat and will be a lot more consistent and useful for getting around. It’s actually fast enough to be better than walking.
