Ive noticed that when ive dug and flattened around my base, Im pretty sure thats just bedrock or something. It garden tool does cover it. Ive only noticed it since update.

I've seen something like this mentioned in bugs, I gotta say it looks like a bug - that's earthworked cliff texture, like you can see on the left side of your SS where there's an actual cliff. I'm curious what happens if you grass it.

Really have to use your imagination to get a bird out of that. I've leveled a bit of ground and I've yet to see that.
Looks like the foundation of those random spawn towers in the black forest, but you seem to be in the meadows. Might have to mark it down as a map generation bug because it looks like it serves no purpose. If that is where you are putting your farm, you could try to raise the ground up a little and re-flatten. Dunno.
Or put walls around it and sell tickets for people to see it. Don't tell people it looks like a bird tho.

My guess is there's something odd with the height map. Was this world generated pre or post mistlands?

can you destroy it with a pick axe and then raise the ground again? does it disappear?

nope. as i said, i was leveling the terrain and found it. you can dig it and it remains

since the mistlands patch i have noticed this as well, sometimes there is cliff texture on flatter ground. you can basically cultivate around it and it should be fine.

I've seen a few of these things in the ground as well. No idea what it is.

You actually can cultivate it. Just cultivate the ground around it and it should turn green. Planting on it doesn't seem to be a problem so far.
