Wolf Taming - I need help
Hey ya'll, was really hoping someone could shed some light on this troubling matter for me.
Thanks in advance if able!!!
So, I've read guides, seen videos and looked over many forums; seeing how to tame wolves. The guides all seem to say the same common theme...
Bring plenty of raw meat to feed the taming process (Guide says 4 to 5 pieces)
Build a Stakewall cage to run a wolf and trap them into it.
Build a way to drop food inside the cage so you can tame the wolf(ves)
Stay far enough away they aren't constantly biting your Stakewall.
Don't get too far away else wise the area will unload and it will stop the taming progress.
However, regardless of trying a trap pit in the mountain or a Stakewall cage, I can't get close enough to the wood (or stone) without the wolf seeing me and getting anxious or aggressive, so it's wasting time not taming and running around trying to bite the walls or trying to jump out instead. I tried simply throwing a piece of meat inside the cage, and standing back far enough for the wolf to eat and gain (taming) hearts, to near absolute no avail.
The in game timer states 5 hours tamable when I read the legend. However, with this particular creature it's been over 20 hours and the wolf is at a mere 4% tamed, having gone through nearly a whole stack of raw deer meat in the process. The wolf isn't simply eating almost 5 pieces of meat in 30 minutes Real Time (the supposed time that's enough to tame them and quantity of food), it's literally scooping up a piece of meat every ten to fifteen seconds, and I am barely a fraction ahead of where I started over four in game days ago (More than an hour REAL TIME). Only nine pieces remain out of my stack of 50 pieces I brought with me, it's not even a stared wolf, it's a regular old cute, pointy eared goofball that won't seem to budge....![:steamfacepalm:](https://community.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/economy/emoticon/steamfacepalm)

Stand within range of the pit, but out of sight, and put your character into sneak mode. The wolf should calm down reasonably quickly if you're actually out of sight & not running around making noise.
And pits work much better than stake walls. One thing to beware of too, is the wolf can be aggroed by wandering mobs, too, which will interrupt the process.
