Thanks. that worked, with one wrinkle. I am running on a server, and it wouldn't accept the fly command.

It's my server, so I just downloaded the world files to my local directory, loaded into the local world, flew to the ship, which was quite a ways away, and landed on the ship. When I went back to the server, I was standing on the deck.

On a side note, this is my no-portal, no-map, no-bosses world, and just after I got back on the boat, I sailed past a Yagluth alter. All I have left is finding a Moder alter to reach my goal of visiting all the alters.

In this world I've pretty much retired as a nomad. I've lost 3 bases so far, and I have max silver gear, with the exception of the last level of the silver sword, so I decided to just load up my longboat with the mats required to fix my gear and make decent food. Worst case is I have to stop for a few days to farm up some veggies.

Now I'm just living the good life on the seas and looking for a good place to settle down. If I could just keep my boat underneath me!

Oh, and I'm also looking for a Moder alter, and I'm always in search of any little scraps of iron. I left 20 iron at my previous base, which is the only thing I miss. Maybe I'll run into in my travels someday.

This time I couldn't see it, so I didn't know which direction to go. It was also quite far away, and it takes quite a bit of time to log into this server, since it requires a password and takes a while to connect. It could have taken hours to find it swimming.

[EXD] Frix has your easiest solution, log out when you are nearly out of stamina, when you log back on your stamina bar will be full.

I think health regen is not restricted when swimming right?
So as long as you have some food, or a lot of patience. You can just eat so your health gos up, and use your health as another stamina bar.
Just make sure you dont run out completely.

Yes, a couple ways actually. See https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Console_Commands

Easiest is (assuming you have the -console switch on): <F5> devcommands<ENTER> fly<ENTER>. To revert to normal just enter commands in console in reverse order. While flying space bar moves you up, control moves you down... oh and make sure you are either on the ground or very close to it when you exit fly mode.. otherwise will do impromptu fall damage test.

Had another disconnection at sea, and this time I can't see my boat. I think this is going to require something more than just boosting stamina while I swim around. Is there a dev command for some sort of "fly" mode, so I can find it?

I know that, but what I didn't know is that, once you start drowning, you keep drowning. I had enough stamina to make it just about to the boat, and I had enough health to make it the rest of the way. I do that all the time crossing rivers, but there you just step on ground and start recovering.

I assumed that I would stop drowning if I stopped at the ladder so that I could reach for it and get on the boat, but, of course, that was not the case.

Have I said that I hate the swimming mechanic in Valheim? IMO it's the worst implemented part of the game.

Not sure... I feel my guy in Valheim also has some deficiencies in his ladder climbing abilities

Then there's the occasional glitch where you make it to the ladder, climb it, and somehow continue on to dive off the other side....

Also seen.. as you near the boat you realize the boat is hanging in the air, ladder is out of reach...

I’ve never tried it and I heard it here but I think if you log out and re-login it restores your stamina.

No stamina potions available?

not sure if you can abuse the food and puke system to regain stamina..?

I did the log out / log in trick, and it ALMOST worked. Used 300 stamina and 100 health, and died as I was reaching for the ladder! :-(

You have to keep doing it.

1) Stop swimming just before you run out of stamina.
2) Log out.
3) Immediately log back in.
4) Profit (stamina-wise)!
5) Resume swimming.
6) Goto 1
