Does your home get attacked?

Hello there !

I am interested in the game and there is a specific feature that I am looking for.

Does your home/base/camp get attacked by mobs time to time? Is there any reason to make a fortification?

If so, are these attacks small scale with just a bunch of random mobs that walked close or are they wave defense type events?

I think 7 Days to Die has a similar feature. That is what I am looking for in a different game.

Thanks in advance! :)

sorta... hostile mobs from the raid will also attack mobs from other environments. so if for instance a bunch of surtlings show up at your black forest base, those surtlings are far more likely to end up attacking every greydwarf and deer in your vicinity than actually attacking you or your walls.
i expect that the event game mechanic will be overhauled and expanded in coming updates.

The raid events may centre on your base (the red circle in the mini-map denotes the raid event area), however the raid is directed at you.
If you are not present or unreachable, the mobs may attack structures, but if you are open to attack and reachable, then every mob involved in the raid will target you.
@OP For this reason, no, it is not necessary to build any fortifications, trenches or walls.
All you have to do in the event of a raid, if you fear for your base structures, is to draw the mobs out and away from them so that they may target you and you alone. This is easy enough to accomplish and whether you opt for melee or ranged attack in order to wipe it out is up to you and your combat competence.

It's possible to just craft your way through an attack and discover this. The event is timed, it has an ending and they just de-spawn. Stay inside and it won't be long,(I don't keep track of time when I craft a lot) by the time I got out there I could see them walking away into the distance and disappearing. It's a very well done work of Art, who ever the programmer is, they can paint by numbers!:steamhappy:
I dare you to just hide inside while Trolls attack your base, you won't have a base left by the time the timer runs out.

As i said in my first post, i had a few troll attacks(not much, god thanks) and few were bugged. The trolls where just standing in the water, hitting the walls. Since my base was on the water and it has annoyed me that always deer and so came into my base and freaked my wolves out, I have pulled a wall into the water and then partially fenced my base completely in the water so that the wall was underwater but still high enough that you could not get over it. The few troll attacks I had, the trolls were always left or right in the water and hit the walls there and barely made dmg. No idea whether bugged or "water damage".

But that's why I wrote that except maybe trolls, not many mobs really do damage to the base ^^.

Yes.
This is a larger one, but you can do a small one same idea:
raise walls with hoe, slap a quick roof up on some poles, throw in a portal and a bed/fire/chest/whatever else. I was going to make a real base here and changed my mind (found a better spot for what I wanted) so the wall ring is oversized. Just run UP the walls and slide in, there is no door or gap or anything ... its a solid ring.

Maybe a Troll can, but that was often bugged strangely for me that it has also made little damage to my walls as I had seen in Youtube videos. And the further you progress, the more annoying it gets not really harder. In my opinion. I think the events are more so that something happens at all when you're not exploring or something.
The Drakes can mess up your base pretty bad since they can fly over walls or trenches. They also are good at killing any livestock you have.

Yup, on my first Drake attack they killed my pigs~.
On the server where I played, I had 80% Drake events and in the beginning I was not well equipped and therefore camped in my house. And as long as they do not see you, they attack super rarely.
When I built a roof over my pigs, I even had some events where they just flew around above it in circles without doing anything while I waited for the event to end in my hut.

3 player made constructions
Bed
Fire
Building
that is enough to trigger a chance for a raid event on a base

That said, no base will get attacked unless you are there. The player is also part of the trigger.

there are 2 answers to this :)
1) yes.
2) no!

1) -- yes, random enemy and events target your construction.
2) -- but, you can use a variety of tricks that make your stuff nearly 100% safe and undamaged during attacks, or even to the point that the enemy just wander around shaking their fists in frustration. If you have a large elaborate building project, you can, and absolutely should, protect it.

I can't say they are as intense as the hordes with 7d2d but they are fun to plan in advance for.
