Is the grind gonna be reduced in the future?
I feel like the game gets way too grindy at the iron & silver eras. It takes a lot of time to mine ores and you need so many bars to max current-grade equipment in order to be able to defeat the next boss. I have nothing against it being challenging, but it's not even challenging to mine a hundred ores. It's just repetitive and boring.
Maybe we should have a more fun way to obtain ore of these types, like finding treasure chests and killing minibosses that drop ore? That would be fun, unlike grinding ores. Even black metal was less tedious to obtain.
Any thoughts?

It's about the journey, not the destination.
Making a camp up on the mountain range, mining the ore and loading it into a cart, pulling the cart down the perilous mountain path you've made through the forest to the dock, loading the ore into a boat and sailing it down the coast to your settlement you've built up yourself to smelt in your cool forge building. Those are the things I remember from Valheim, not so much the boss fights. If you want nothing but boss fights done much better than here go play Shadow of the Colossus.
Well said... That is life... At the end, memories is all you end with. So many steps, one foot in front of the other for so long. Bigger, better, stronger for it all... And memories nurture the soul for eternity... Games and Life...

I wouldn't mind grinding for ores at all if carts were less cumbersome / useless

I imagine it will get less grindy. It's obviously not optimal condition for real gameplay so I have high hopes it eventually get changed, early access game etc etc.

You really don't need to max current gear to defeat a boss. If getting ore feels grindy, perhaps you can organize better by building a road, a near-site repair+buff station, using a cart or a boat for transportation, moving your smelting+crafting to near-site, etc..

I kinda thought the artificial padding was the point, it certainly adds a lot to the game, they just need to fill the voids in-between. I honestly enjoy the grind. Gives me things to do in between boss fights, and building new things, and just upgrading my gear because you can. I like having to strategize, and think about the logistics of how to safely get a ship full of ore back to my main fortress.

My maxed iron set was as powerful as an initial silver set, yet I could barely stand two Moder attacks. Unless if you're talking about multiplayer, because in solo, I certainly don't see much option between using or not an upgraded set. You don't need to max gear. The initial set for each biome is more than enough to take on the bosses.
The upgrades are there for as an option for people who are struggling to have a way to essentially lower the difficulty of combat by putting more effort into resource gathering.

It's really not though if you prepare correctly. Build resource manufacturing on site. Also just a matter of seed luck.
My current seed is full of iron. 1 swamp of crypts yielded me 500- 600 ore.

You aren't supposed to get hit often by Moder. You avoid her ranged attacks while in the air, and when she lands you keep range and spam arrow attacks. Moder hits like a truck in any armor so you should ideally avoiding melee range. It's very doable. If you are struggling with the fight, then that's what the upgrades are there for, to make it easier.

Couldn't do that, wolves kept spawning in unusual rates after I summoned her. I mentioned that in another post but people argued that Moder doesn't spawn minions. I spent hours in the Mountains biome (even built a house there) and never got attacked by wolves twice in the same place. Boss battle though, they just kept on coming. There's no convincing me that Moder's boss fight doesn't spawn mobs on purpose. My maxed iron set was as powerful as an initial silver set, yet I could barely stand two Moder attacks. If you know enough about game design/code you can look at the code. There isn't any mechanic to spawn mobs in direct relation to Moder.
However all the noise you are making, or rather Moder is making, by breaking terrain, rocks, trees, and such can draw in mobs. Any destruction is vey loud and can pull in mobs from a distance.
One thing you can do to help is place no spawn items around your battlefield, such as standing torches, so that they create buffer zone. Some may be destroyed in the fight, but they will help.
Also I prefer to dig a decent sized trench/pit beforehand (wide not deep) and when she lands you circle it firing away, keeping her on the opposite side. This means you can keep your distance without ducking behind objects she destroys that then generate lots of noise.
Hopefully that'll make the fight easier for you.

Ah, so Moder doesn't exactly spawn enemies, she attracts them from throughout the biome. That makes sense. I would try the trench technique if she wasn't still flying there even after I died.Couldn't do that, wolves kept spawning in unusual rates after I summoned her.
