Yes I found his alter before the Vegvisir twice. If you want to find the Vegvisir to mark the map you should be looking for a stonehenge looking arrangement of rocks (no not the spawn alter - like the actual stonehenge). Can't miss it. At least that is the only place I have found them so far.

boss spawners need to be programmed to spawn guaranteed in the closet of each biome to spawn,
closest meadows closest black forest ect. that way it is easier to reach

Try looking for stonehenge structures. The marker for Yagluth is pretty small, but it's usually on one of the pillars

your map isn't his map. For me, Yagluth was on the edge of the mistlands, and the marker wasn't much further away, but this was on the other side of the world from my main base.

Well like others, I found Yag's altar before I found any Vegvisir. Its big, but it was also way out and about the 30th plains biome I had found. I am not progression driven and consider boss fights boring drudgery so I was in no rush.

I can see how this would be little fun for someone that wanted the boss fight though. All the other bosses seem to have plentiful Vegvisirs.

Not easier, just smaller and fewer time-sinks. I hate time-sinks. I don't mind some grind (I can actually tolerate quite a bit of grind, I loved Everquest, for instance), but feel that things that are there to simply make you play longer (by design or otherwise) are a little frustrating. Wood gathering is a time-sink....however, I think it's a viable one...it makes sense, you need wood to fuel fires, process ore, make arrows, etc. Fishing is a nightmare....terrible mechanics, pure time-sink. If it were more fun, slightly easier, it would not be (look at Fishing in "My Time at Portia".

The Vegviser for Yagluth is an unnecessary time-sink. Probably accidental, but, still a time-sink. Just add 20% more "Vegetables".

I found the altars before but never was able to get the location on my map through those things, it got to the point that I believed they didn't exist. Still never found one.

awsome.. make the game more easy then that is by killing bosses :D

I agree. Out of half my games played through the plains we've found the actual altar before we found the vegvisir (sp? My wife calls it the vegetable). It takes days (real life days, playing 8 hours a day or so (we're retired) to find that thing.

Well, I found it finally. Not a locator stone, but the altar itself. So put me down as yet another who had to run for hours and hours and actually find the altar and not a locator stone first.

This needs to be fixed.

EDIT: The altar is huge and was right near a coastline for me so I luckily found it while sailing around looking for yet another Plains biome to hopefully find something in.

The gigantic stone pillars that surround Yagluth's altar should make it hard to miss. I found the altar before I found any of the vegvisers.

I think what indications appear is entirely governed by chance. In my case, I had no trouble finding Yagluth, but a long and miserable hunt to run down Moder.

Haha, I am about to resort to using a map gen to find mine too....

Moder had a locator stone in almost every ruined castle/fort you came across while up in the mountains! They need to add some locators to like every 1 out of 4 goblin villages too. Or just greatly increase the spawn of those stonehenge sites...

I spent a good amount of time looking for it too, i think its more likely to spawn farther away from the start, i noticed this with other things aswell, the farther you are from the center or the start are the more stuff you get, was really evident when i got to a mountain that was a decent bit far. Silver nodes on top of silver nodes.

Agreed. Don't know how many 100s of black metal ores I got just from taking down fulings on my way to finding the vegvisir in X different plains. And that's from ignoring most fulings and only taking down the ones that chase me.

Ended up needing to use a map generator to find it...
