When weak and first going into the BF crypts I tend to put fires in hallways and let them kill themselves on it. Just keep the fire repaired. If they don't kill themselves then they will stand there and let you shoot them.

You just have to watch out for smoke.

Once you get some troll though it's easy enough. Just don't open doors until you are ready to clear behind it. Clear areas before opening doors to prevent backspawns.

And attention about skeleton spawner - it may be deadly. Sometimes the 1 star skeleton appear and it may be a problem in the first few crypts. It is usually in crypts, where the Elder boss stone appear or before the chamber with high quantity of surtling cores. And remember - skeletons are weak of blunt damage and fully upgraded buckler is must to have ...

Also skeletons burn and will take fire DOT.

I club them with my torch and watch them pop.

It's tedious, and cheesy as all get out, but it will save your skin

Looks like someone made the mistake of avoiding skellies and not fighting his way in. Oops!

Archers are dumb. They can't hit if you move side to side (from their perspective!) and they can't handle obstacles. You can try running past, go tight around objects and then back so the object is behind you and blocking (trees, rocks, even terrain elevation changes all work).
You can also try hiding. They can't see thru the door, and sometimes they will lose track and wander off, allowing you to run.
the key to running away is to not panic. Choose a path you have been before, back toward safety, and if another enemy shows up, don't panic or fight just keep going. Eventually running will get you far enough that you can hide behind a rock etc and they will lose you and leave.

your shield blocks arrows same as weapons.
opening the door from an angle will get them to shoot the door frame/wall and then you have about 5 seconds before they can fire again.

Sounds like you are stuck, unless you do find a kind multiplayer soul to rescue you. It may be easier to just take the hit and try again. My first deaths in game were often from crypts until I learned how to handle them.

My checklist for going into crypts now includes: a minimum level 10 armor rating (upgraded deer, or some troll armor), a shield for the archers, and a stagbreaker (deer trophy, core wood from tall pines, leather scraps, upgraded workbench) to smash things on the other side of closed doors, stone and wood to make a campfire in the first room, resin for torches if your settings make it too dark to see, and of course your preferred weapon, blunt works best, but flint axe is adequate if that's what you've been using anyway.

Once you have all that, then you are ready to rob the dead. Don't worry about being disrespectful. You're dead too.
