Devs Please stop me going Deaf
Hi Devs/all.
Can you please moderate the sound level of the effects (or add an extra option to) while mining using a pickaxe, a normal axe, or even a weapon. An option to tighten the band /range that sound effects can play in so you don't have some whispers and some SSSHHHHOOOUUUTTTSSS!!! Particularly once you hit mistlands, most of the people I play with mute the music and boost the sound effects way up so you know what is more than 5m away from you. I find I have been playing with my headset more for a better feel for the sound (left/right/front/back) as I have a 7.1 headset, but only 2.1 speakers, but every time I play for a while and have the sound turned up, run across a skull or need a place to rest to regen stamina (particualy once running magic) in the side of a hill, the intensity of the pickaxe noise feels like a nail in the ears. I have also woken the kids up with they have been asleep when the foghorn of a Gjall or a pick meeting a rock suddenly blasts out of the speakers. Less than ideal, particularly when playing multiplayer and you need to leave your vulnerable toon while you go take care of the crying child who is scared of the big noise.
I am a tradesperson in real life, so used to loud noises/environments, and I know and use the ways to protect yourself from being as hurt by them or getting industrial deafness/long term hearing damage/loss. I get that if I was actually using a pickaxe on a rock it would be loud, but this is crazy that I am risking hearing damage from a game if I don't remember to turn my volume down first before taking an essential step in the game, harvesting materials.
TLDR; Please make it so that when I use the pick axe (and others) I don't go deaf or wake the kids up who have 3+ walls between computer and where they sleep.

You wanna know the best way of preventing you from going deaf? Use speakers instead of headphones. When gaming, it's easy to lose track of time, and suddenly you been cooking your ear drums for 5 hours straight.
I always play with speakers because the audio for my PC was borked from the factory and I could only fix it for the speakers on my TV. Still nails on chalkboard.

footprints of hare/seeker sound too similar at low levels, so can the wings sound as they fly in, I also usually only hear the Deathsquito as it is on its attack run towards me, so need to raise the volume a bit to distinguish between them. Far sounds are quiet generally, but I find in the mist I like having the extra couple of seconds to pull my weapons out to get ready from the sound clues.

For me the worst is the sound from using a cauldron, literally nails on chalkboard. almost everything else is super quiet except that and pickaxes.

It's easier to find deer with headphones, but I have to turn everything way down when I do. My headphones boost the bass, whether I want them to or not, so chopping trees is also a loud WHUMP.
I have been tempted at times to only put one log in the cauldron at a time so it won't run constantly, but the biggest offender here is the spinning wheel.

I agree. It is indeed very loud. I have lowered the soundeffects slider to about 50% just for this reason.

What are the sounds which are otherwise too quiet?
