Turn your gamma up. Use a torch.

It's supposed to be dark at night, but turning off ssao can help a little.

You aren't supposed to play at night. That is why they give you the cold debuff. Make a bed and sleep through it. This has all kinds of benefits. You skip the darkness. You skip the debuff. Plus you get a rested buff that lasts most of the day.

Make a bed. Its easy.

Dumb question. How gamma? There's no gamma control settings I can find in-game, so is there some way to override that?

(I may be an idiot, and haven't tried just doing it in the display control panel)
