Mistlands is not going well.
So i am pretty much in complete black metal and if a seeker is 1 star or above it can't be parried or blocked. since i can't see them before hand its pretty much a death sentence. if i could see them before hand i would just avoid them ,but ya know the mist blinds ya. i am still trying to come to gripes with this place.

Your world will change with the mistlands cloak, then you don't need to worry about jumping off high stuff, and even count on it, or help you get from place to place. After that, either the arbalest or mistlands aetgir ( flashy! ) is the biggest change pre mage gear. Put down a chest and just swap as needed between the two new crafting tables. I just had a bit of a struggle to find dungeons for the cores and the skulls for the flesh, to get started, then they were just everywhere.
By the way, if you sail/walk into a new mist biome, either bring a couple of iron plates, or else mats for smelter or portal, knock part of a sword down for scrap iron and then throw down a stone cutter to help you with black marble collection. Trust me.

Max out your gear level from Plains. (You might have it allready, I dont remember the details since I quit the game). Die, die, die, die and die again as you enter the ML stone houses to unlock the new forge. After you get the forge, grind seekers. Oh yes, and keep hating the terrain. You'll love it. Mistlands is just SO fun. Forget the difficulty level, or the mist, just look for the fun part. Let me know if you find it. I didnt. Beat the queen and left.

Lot of good info up above. Mistlands is hard and it's taking its toll on the players, based on all the complaint posts. The best advice is to study and adapt, don't be locked into your favorite build or strategy. Each biome presents different challenges that you have to adjust to. Embrace the challenge, it can be a lot of fun and rewarding if you can get over the "poor me" or "bad devs" mindset and just give it a chance. I'm sure more adjustments will be made as this is an EARLY ACCESS game (which some complainers seem to forget) but don't shy away from the challenge. It won't be a favored biome by most because of the challenges, but it's rewarding and has possibly the best boss fight compared to the others. Good stuff (IMO).

I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on "listen and don't climb". Yes climbing is dangerous because you can't see your way back down, but 90% of the infected mines I found were up high. As for sound, that sound could be coming from any direction within render distance - sound location in mistlands just doesn't work.
As for food: health for block/parry, stam for dodge roll. For some reason health doubles as block armour/stagger prevention.

90%? atleast half the mines i find are below abandoned dvergr towers. and the HIGH UP mines always had a marble stair case. or HAD a marble stair case before i was there....now its a high up mine but its also empty^^
sound works totally fine to notice a thread comeing for you or a threat beeing nearby. just knowing its there already helps alot to prevent SUPRISE effects.

Keeping the Bonemass power at the ready is essential in Mistlands until you have become accustomed to things and access to equipment that is effective against seekers. If I have the power off cooldown and there's more than one enemy along high rank seeker, I won't hesitate to pop it as soon as I can.
High rank soldiers should be ignored and escaped from under any circumstances if you are playing solo, there's just no value in fighting them unless they are blocking you somehow.
Root harnesk can be very helpful as well. If you're using padded armor with root harnesk, it will greatly mitigate any piercing damage, which is the primary damage type dealt by seekers, but even that shouldn't be relied upon too much. You'll have to try how it works first hand with your preferred combination of food and equipment.

its definitly not ESSENTIAL. i dont have it. survived just fine.
as for the tc : USE TWO HP foods. not ONE. anything below 140 hp puts you into ONESHOT range for a 2 star seeker depending on armor used. you never want that. make sure you can take 1 hit. this allows to escape from a mistake or bad situation.
people useing 2 stamina foods.... its no suprise you guys struggle. 2 stam foods only works well when useing only ranged attacks. for melee its straight up asking for trouble.
150 stamina is all you need.

Yeah, you probably get knocked back/staggered with each attempt to parry then. If you intend to parry as a main tactic then you need to go 2 HP/1 Stam food. The starred Seeker hit too hard to have low HP and attempt to parry. yeah i got the light. and no i wasn't using 2 hp foods.

So don't parry them. Dodge-roll then sweep with atgeir = stagger.
Or kite with bow.
If a survival game can be won with one tactic it's kinda lame. Adapt to survive.

And listen... You can hear them from far away long before you agro them. Just learn to play Mistland, it's a new biom and you need to adopt to it. You can not just play it like your are in the Meadows.
1. Listen
2. Have the wisp light
3. Listen
4. Move slowly so the light can clear the fog
5. Listen
6. Have proper food (180+ HP, 120+ stamina) and the Bonemass buff.
7. Listen
8. If you run away (which is a good thing to to in the beginning) put away your weapon and shield as it slows you down and uses up your stamina. And don't jump around like a CS-kid as useless jumping also kills your stamina.
9. The dwarfs are your friends, pull the mobs to their bases and they kill them for you. Just don't harm the dwarfs or their buildings.
10. The steep mountains and cliffs are your friends as seaker soldiers can not follow you there.
12. There is no need to climb the steep rocks as there is nothing up there. And if there is some dwarf post somewhere you can see the blue lights from far away.
13. Frostener (hammer) is your friend when it comes to fighting. The pure damage numbers may be worse than some black metal weapons but it freezes the enemy and slows it down so you can better hit it and maybe even hit them from behind.
14. Mistland creatures like to be hit from behind, deals double the damage if you hit them on their as s 🤪
15. Did I mention to listen into the fog.
Yes Mistland are hard and the terrain can kill you but that's part of the challenge, adopt to it or use mods to make it easier for you.

Why can't you parry them? You have lvl 3 Black Metal Shield, yes? I take it your Block skill is also not ZERO...
Your parry is also based on your max HP. Are you sure to use 2 HP foods of good quality? With 2 quality HP foods you can parry even 2 star seekers.
Going into Mistlands for first time you should have Bread/Lox Pie/Fish Wraps as your go-to foods.
EDIT: Also, you are using a WISP LIGHT, yeah? https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Wisplight

it is pretty tough, 1 stars are almost a guarantee death sentence. and I hate running out of stamina trying to climb all the time, i use 2 stam foods and 1 health food. We built a couple of portals in the plains right next to the mist and just kind of ran around the edges getting a few seekers and looking for a dungeon. Really tough to find them, look for building with seekers on top of it. Everything changes once you have the new forge, the crossbow is a gamechanger.
