Next time give him a fully upgraded club and crude bow, or go all in and full upgraded troll armor or something. That is your body fetching gear -- your second best weapons and troll sneak + your best food = recovery unless you got really screwed (rafted over to the plains and camped by a furby army kind of thing).
But recovery of your stuff is part of it. I did a new one and left a body in a crypt (** toxic skeleton and first venture into the forest) for a while, it was easier to just make new stuff and kill the guy than try to get past him to recover and then put it on and then fight.

People play games with different objectives in mind, but the whole point of Valheim seems to be progression and discovery. Handing someone end-game gear does detract from those aspects of gameplay.

The most likely outcome from this is immediately losing that gear somewhere impossible to corpse run with starting equipment and no experience. I'd have gone with building a nicely equipped bronze age house with ingredients to unlock a few good recipes.

Honestly, yeah, I think this is the most likely scenario. That armor is nice, but without good food and a bit of strategy, he'll probably get wrecked and lose it, at which point the issue has resolved itself.

You basically turned on cheat mode for him without putting in the cheat codes. Should've started a new game with him together and build up from the ground. Would be more fun that way.
