digging around copper deposits annoys me.

for some reason ive yet to figure out, there are parts of the ground that just WONT get dug up with a pickaxe. making it almost impossible to dig around an entire copper node. i dont understand why some parts of the land can be dug down dozens of feet, but some places only goes down like 2 feet before it goes "hah, nah ain't happening, chief"

it's annoying.

I feel you but nothing actually forces you to dig giant holes.
- there are plenty of copper deposits around you can just dig near the surface, although it takes many to collect the same amount of ore;
- you can grow grass and plant trees in those holes;
- if you get in full mining mode, it's normal to be left with an excavated landscape. Just assume your lust for technology!

one could use the ol' troll attack aoe and dodge when he attacks to get under the surface ores. (after reaching dig height limit of course)

also can turn those holes from mining into basements for outposts so a bit extra use out of the annoyance of mining

Actually I deliberately mined just the surface and carefully not affect the ground so it doesn't cause unsightly "environmental damage" near my bases. There's really really a lot of copper nodes out there.

i agree - usually there is a lot of copper around
thats why i prefer surface mining

If it really bothers you that much, create a new world with the exact same seed key, go to the same location and mine, then bring your ore back to your original world.

The most annoying thing is the form of the deposits. Give them the form of Silver Veins or put some copper weapons (the great ones from Mistlands) in the dark wood biome.

There's a limit to how deep or high terrain can be manipulated from its baseline.

Congratulations, you have hit bedrock. It would be nice if it was a specific color or texture, sometimes it takes a long time to figure out you have reached the limit.

then why do HALF of these resource nodes go UNDER the baseline?

Random generation. Putting it so that some of the deposit is below the base line prevents the node from floating in the air in other spots which is far less believable.

also the fastest way to mine nodes.

meanwhile the flying armors and rocks of the mistlands float like no tomorrow :D

they really gotta fix these staying in the air despite clearly haveing no ground connection anymore.

but these floating lantern posts are funny till then atleast.

as for the tc : its the same with some of these beeing generated below ocean/water level. cannot mine them out if that occurs. thankfully its rare enough that it doesnt lose you too much. its painful when it happens of course and i hope for the future theyll figure out how to tell the rng to make sure none of these is spawned in unreachable areas.

but for now this is a common issue with alot of ore deposits no just copper. muddy scrap also have parts stuck behind walls you cannot mine out or are below water level in the swamp outside.

had a giant marble skull and bone spawn at ocean level. lost half of them due to that. marked them with a darth vader NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on my map to honor them for good or until they add a way to dive down and mine underwater. who knows.

You are probably mining a copper deposit that is quite close to the coast. The maximum depth gets less the closer you get to the water, so try to find some that are a bit further inland. Luckily there are lots of them, way more than you will ever need in copper.
