Steam has some feelings on how companies should engage on steam forums
Moderating Steam Discussions:
Your Steam Discussions are one of the many places your customers and fans are interacting and sharing their experiences with your product. It may be tempting to jump in and participate in every conversation that is happening about your product. Instead, take a step back and listen. Hear what your customers are discussing and asking. Rather than spending a bunch of energy in replying to every thread, channel that energy and excitement into improving your product; fix the bug, create new content, etc.
In many cases, the presence of a developer commenting in discussions can derail the conversation or cause participants to be more timid in their responses. It is often more beneficial to let the community talk things through so that you can gather more data about the issue or hear what kind of solutions your customers come up with.
Here are a couple points that we've found to be useful to keep in mind when browsing discussions:
Listen to your customers. Not just in the Steam Community, but everywhere people are talking about your product.
Don't respond to everything. Crafting deliberate and thoughtful communication takes time and always comes with risks of reducing future options or spurring further argument. Let your community answer each others' questions.
Work on your product. If there are a bunch of common themes in the discussions about bugs or issues in your game or software, then you probably have a good idea of what would have the best pay-off to fix or improve. The best communication is to change your product, as it reaches all your customers and generates the best feedback.
Don't argue with your fans. Some customers will try to engage developers in arguments. There's no way you can win.
Let customers express their unhappiness. Don't censor; customers know when that's happening. Focus on your product rather than getting worked up over negative comments. Channel your energy into fixing the core issues and making customers happy in the product.

Clueless people complaining with conspiracies about why X/Y is/isn't happening isn't constructive criticism. It's just noise.

Never claimed it was constructive criticism, my last sentence was obviously speculation, but heres the thing genius, why do you think people are making noise? It's been radio silent for a long time, people will ask questions to fill the void. I am aware of the nature of Early Access and it's not normal to have a stretch of silence this long. Community feedback is part of the process which is sorely missing here with the lack of communication. Clueless people complaining with conspiracies about why X/Y is/isn't happening isn't constructive criticism. It's just noise.
If we're clueless, fill us in then.

I have never seen so much censorship as here
It's really impressive
any message with the word "update"
the message disappears and the author often gets kicked for no real reason
Even star citizen is less scam and misleading than valheim

If they want people to stop complaining they need to be more transparent with what they're doing. All we get is a screenshot once every month and saying they're working on it. Well if they had any confidence in the work they've made, surely we could get a decent sneak peek? I have never seen so much censorship as here

Lacking this confidence is starting to worry me that there are major development issues they're being hush hush about. Most likely conflict with project leads, we already had hints of that before with the director not even wanting sailing early on in development.

I mean why are they wondering we are curious. They got about 100 million with their game in shortest time... and not left us alone. They care more to bring ports for consol than fix their game on PC or even update it frequently.
For me it looks like just like another devolper grap their money and now they will let the game die by itself or like Skyrim, let the community do all the work with mods.
I had so much hope in that game but in nearly 2 years now... nothing happen. We got one small update and thats it. They spoke of an big update every quater of the year in the beginning. Now we wait 2 years for at least a small one.

Well put. That is exactly my feeling also, having followed the Valheim forum for almost a year now.
Edit; the game is great (even in EA), the mods are really great, and the community is great. We all just want more Valheim!

Seconded, they literally went out of their way to censor steam because of negativity they didn't want to deal with(pissed me off more lol), it didn't just go away, it just moved to twitter / discord etc.
"let people feel heard"
Very well said btw
