under growth

Im not a huge fan of the massive mount of short trees. i always feel the need to chop them all down and clear out the under brush so i can see everything.
Im just wondering, if im the only one that feels O.C.D. about clearing it all away.:steamfacepalm:

last run i cleared most of the line of sight around my base, part of it a dark forest, and it made me all the wood AND coal that i needed for the rest of the game and birch seeds to plant, i do recommend it if you hate taking breaks for chopping wood, it took me maybe 4 hours with bronze equipment

I didn't feel the need to do this until I hit Swamps. My Swamps are alongside Dark Forest. I've chopped down every Fir tree and scrub brush in Dark Forest so I can see from a long ways off into Swamps. Makes it a lot better when fighting Trolls and kiting Abominations.

I just might cut down every Ancient Tree in Swamps, just to be safe. :)

OP, you may actually be weird but you have a lot of fellow weirdos :steamhappy:

My clear cutting is more situational. Sometimes I like the vibe the random forest growth gives a particular location.

if i make a "road" i clear each side of trees big or small so i can see mobs .makes navigating in low light easier too.. but i too plant a lot of core wood near bases as i get wood and line of sight

I usually make a "park" like area around my base, so no, you are not alone. :lunar2019coolpig:

You are not alone. In fact, I love all the short baby trees... I can slash them down in one swoop of my bronze axe and get TONS of wood doing it. I don't have to worry about huge trees falling on my head (or my base), and it clears LOS for hunting deer. I also clear all the dead stumps and moss-covered fallen logs, and some of the bushes now and then. But I mostly leave the berry bushes because I'm not sure of this, but it seems to me they attract wildlife (boar and deer - and the Graylings that hunt them). I also went into settings and turned down the visable folliage - which helped immensely.
