Is this game an eating simulator?

For the most part, I consider hunger/thirst mechanics to be the cancer of the survival genre. Mainly because devs don't seem to grasp the concepts of digestion and metabolism, so every step or action needs a bit of food and water to accomplish. Nothing ruins a game faster for me than micromanaging a hunger and thirst bar. Eat some food, drink some water, move on and play the game for a few hours.

I'm reading stories about exhaustion from performing normal activities. Is that the case? Do I need to refund?

You must be new. Yes, it is. With mods, you don't have to worry much about eating.

You don't need to eat to survive. drinking is not a thing.
You eat food to get some sort of buffs, which help while combat and doing physical hard work (more stamina/health).

you have almost no hp/stam when "hungry" it's just got a small maximum value, it's not a tedious thing as in you don't need to eat much when you're safe and thirst doesn't exist

It's not a Rust/Green Hell kind of game where not eating will kill you outright. Food helps you in many areas such as surviving a tough fight and having enough stamina to attack multiple times and other actions. Right now the problem is that the food boost values are giving a headache to people who wanted less problems with the food boost values.

You don't die from hunger. You just have your base HP which is 25. When you're full on three types of food and depending on whether it's health based or stamina based, your health and stamina will go up accordingly for X amount of minutes.

This isn't an eating simulator. A lot of the complaints with the new food system is exaggerated. All the new system needs is some tweaking and that's it.

For example, I just spent the last 4 hours cutting down a forest and building up my new house with basic defenses. I don't know all the whining some people are making. I managed to kill dwarves, run away from mobs, use my bow with some extra tactics, and still completed my home without any mods, and I just started the game barely two weeks ago. I've clocked over 100 hours so far. I haven't died once since the new update. In fact, I like the new system quite a lot. Wish it was even more diverse.
