Blocking Skill Experience Odd
In the Black Forest blocking a no-star skeleton - from Lvl 27 to Lvl 28 - 77 perfect blocks with Lvl 3 Bronze Buckler - each hit/damage avg 21
Went back to the Meadows base for a Greyling - from Lvl 28 to Lvl 29 - 55 perfect blocks with same shield - each hit/damage avg 4.5
That math does not add up. The skill should improve much... almost 5 times... faster with a more difficult mob and damage. Yet, it took 22 less.

look for three skeles in a crypt. Helps speed up the process, or find a spawner and spend some time there. Can get some good parries with the brutes.

I do try to maintain the Rested Effect, but it's possible I may've been there over the buff time while collecting Core Wood. I'll do it, again, just to be sure. It almost sounds like you didn't have rested bonus for the first test, and had rested bonus for the second (50% increase in XP gain) which would explain why it took you less hits to lvl.
But I agree, wish there was a more dynamic skilling system in valheim.

I remember that heavy hits from tougher mobs usually offer more exp, but I have maxed blocking into my 2 mains so long ago now.. I have forgotten :P In the Black Forest blocking a no-star skeleton - from Lvl 27 to Lvl 28 - 77 perfect blocks with Lvl 3 Bronze Buckler - each hit/damage avg 21

However, I typically (during your age) would go into the black forest at night, close to a nest as well and have like 10 greydwarves hit my shield, faster exp farming that way.

Yes, I'm not new to the game. Did 750+ hrs on my first file and killed all the bosses twice. Yes, I took my sweet time learning the game :P Had my starter base, a second base which was fully progressed and a third which was a stone castle on an island. All solo, fully progressed... It's just that recently I considered counting the number of hits... out of boredom. This is a new file/world since the latest update came out and I returned to the game. Again, it's mostly just an observation I wanted to point out. Not knocking the game or looking for pointers on how to level up.... If I could delete the thread, I would.I remember that heavy hits from tougher mobs usually offer more exp, but I have maxed blocking into my 2 mains so long ago now.. It was more of an observation and that's how it happened. I counted each block and saw with my own eyes the damage/hit that was either averaging 22 or 4.5. I'm not knocking the game, just pointing out the experience and the huge difference in skill acquired between the two mobs. That's not how experience works in this game. Every hit you do gives the same amount of exp no matter the mob. I do understand your criticism but I think skills are just an optional easy mode way of the game by being able to grind.
